Hello! I recently did my first burnout and heard a loud noise when I drove off and was wondering what could that be.

1. Turned on sport mode
2. Fully disabled traction
3. Went in manual mode
4. Held the break
5. Applied throttle 70-100%
6. As soon as I hit 4k RPM went into 2nd gear
7. Released the brake to take off

After 1-2 seconds of releasing the brakes I heard a loud noise like something broke. Car went back to Drive mode from manual and it displayed the D on the tachometer but without any gear next to it. I think it also cut off gas for a second and after that it went into 6th gear and dropped to 3rd. I was holding down the throttle the entire time.

Should I be concerned?

Forgot to mention that the car is driving fine and shifts normally. No error lights came up either. I was just wondering what happened. Anyway lesson learned. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Will get it checked out next week.

True that. Odds are you are OK, just don't do it again.

I don't know why people want to destroy expensive tires. If you want to do doughnuts, do it in an empty parking lot in the rain.

The only reason I did it its because I am getting new tires for free and was curious how it is.. I would have not done it otherwise either.
