if you have a random OBD device like OBD link or p2 gauge it might be worth checking to see if that causes any incorrect values or lag with the canchecked? That way we might be able to figure out if the behavior is due to the data stream or the signal injection?

I know they're separate networks, so that incompatibility baffles me too

So I ended up buying one of these.

Two issues for me.

1. It blocks the OBD2 port of no apparent reason. It only connects to CAN so there is no reason to block the OBD2 port. I have had a device that does the same thing before and used another device on the OBD2 port at the same time with no issues so I don't really see the reason for the block. You can turn the block off to make the OBD2 port functional again but then the CANchecked unit doesn't do anything and has a big overlay on the screen. This is basically a deal breaker for me.

2. Almost half the data items either don't even work (just shows 0) or shows incorrect numbers.

Support so far has sucked.

Interesting - which data points were duff for you? The only thing on mine that didn't work out of the box was the tacho - and frankly, not what I got the unit for anyway. (I got it as a simple way to see oil / water /gbox temps)

This was on a UK 2022 manual, so possibly some minor differences?

The CanChecked FB page/group was quite helpful - but ultimately I didin't end up having to fiddle with mine at all.

I didn't install mine, but re point 1 that shouldn't be the case. I have full use of my OBD2 port and my unit works just fine.

There are four wires. CAN high, CAN low, ground, power.

It's pretty idiot proof. :)

Which file are you running on the MFD?

Latest base files are here:

Edit2: The CanChecked support faceache page is worth a look too.

Yup, running the latest TRX file and have posted on the FB page.
I haven't got the car, (or the file!) any more - otherwise would have pinged it over to you!

If you are on the FB page then they, or another user will sort you out - super helpful lot.

First of all, challenge accepted on the idiot proof part

Second, i don't get the point you're making. I have access to my OBD port, and my device works as standard. What am i missing here?

haha. I assumed you were eluding to an install issue. :)

So you can connect to the car with apps like bimmerlink/bm3/mhd/etc via the OBD2 port while the CANchecked device is also showing data items?

I'm starting to think I got a FU version of the device.

Are you also able to log or show data on the bimmerlink dashboard?

The support for this product absolutely sucks. Takes forever, barely a full sentence reply and basically ignores every question I had.

I'll give it one more chance and then I will try and sell this thing.
