So how is everybody installing their carbon engine covers in regards to the underside? Are you transferring the foam from the stock cover? How are you attaching it if you are? Has anyone tried using gold reflective tape instead? Looking to get some ideas.

Thanks!

I have the Euroboutique version and I transferred the foam. I also applied double sided 3M tape to any areas that were not staying in place.

Perfect! I have the Autotecknic as well. Did you attach it or just lay it on the engine?
I just stuck it on the cover in the correct orientation and then sandwiched it when I clipped it to the engine and it stayed in place. Could probably add some double stick tape, but not totally necessary

What does the foam protect the hood?

Supposedly diminish engine noise, insulate for heat, things like that. How much to either of those I don’t know but I figure it would probably do at least a little of both. I’m looking more for the heat since I want to try some vinyl to make the red stripes we have on the stock cover.

I have the NVSpecialties CF engine cover and transferred the foam directly onto the engine, no tape required. I did trim some of the edges back where visible when the cover is installed.

The problem I had was the cover hitting my FTP charge pipe. I don’t think any of the covers are designed to work with aftermarket charge pipes.

Some quick work with dremel fixed it though.

Now that is very useful since I have the FTP pipes in the garage waiting for install. I’ll keep an eye on that area when I do. Thanks!

I have Eventuri and I replaced the foam and grommets, and even used some adhesive promoter and glue on the foam pad to make it stick perfect and avoid any rattles or noises.

Think I’m going to try laying it on the engine first, then 3m tape if needed, then the last straw would be glue. Honestly hadn’t given glue a thought probably because I hope it doesn’t get to that point. Instead of transferring the grommets I bought new ones and was also able to find the plastic chrome Toyota emblem for it. I know there are nicer emblems but I like the “if you don’t know you wouldn’t know” kind of OEM+, so I wanted a cover that looks exactly like the stock cover just in carbon instead of plastic. Really appreciate all the help and ideas everyone!

I have Seibon. I had to switch over the foam and grommets. Took like 2 minutes
