Hey guys. I thought I read enough forum posts to knock this out in 30 minutes. I can't get my camera to power on (VIOFO).
My dash cam came with a USB A to mini USB cable. I cut off the USB A end and spliced the red and black wire. Red went to the fuse tap and black to ground. Fuse tap is in F47. The fuse tap has a 5amp fuse. I'm using a ground location I saw mentioned in a few other posts.

Things I've tried:
Moving the fuse from the top to bottom of the tap (another post said it might matter which one is used)
Added another 5 amp fuse so both fuse slots in the tap had 5amp fuses (another post said this might matter)
Tested the camera plugging it into normal usb cable (camera works)
Adding a washer between the plastic and ground connector

Bump and updates. I checked the fuse tap with a multi-meter. The style I have does need both top and bottom fuses installed to work. So with them in I am seeing power in ACC mode. All the grounds I'm using are fine too.

So I guess it comes down to my camera (which works fine plugged into a normal usb port). It must need some sort of converter.

Viofo makes hardwiring kits for their cameras and that’s what you need to buy. It’s worthwhile since their kits also handle low voltage shutoff settings to help keep from overly draining your battery in parking mode. I used a Viofo kit and it worked with zero issues. No troubleshooting and no problems after simply following a YouTube install vid. Been running an A139 Pro with front and rear camera since shortly after I bought the car in 2023.

The Viofo kit I used didn't end up working. I picked another random kit and that one worked fine.
The fuse tap still needed both fuses in place.
