Dealbreaker or Not - Squeaking with Z16 Brake Pads

I recently came across a mention of the Z16 power stop brake pads, and there seems to be a strong consensus here that they do a great job at minimizing brake dust.

However, when I first considered buying them as a replacement, I stumbled upon several BMW threads where they vehemently described the Z16s as being prone to “horrendous squeaking.” Their experiences completely me deterred me from purchasing.

So before I decide, I am wondering does anyone here suffer from any obnoxious squeaking?

Hmmm... I have a set sitting in my garage for the next project.

Looking at the older BMW threads (pre-2020) talk about brake squeal now... but we have no idea how they were installed.

So my 2-cents...
1. The pad backing and pins weren't pasted with brake quiet (CRC) and lubed
2. The pads were not bedded in properly

I've Powerstop ceramics, Akebono ceramics, and Hawk (street, low dust) with this method for 20+ years. No annoying squeal save cold day stops rolling out of the driveway.

But I'll report back if any squeal persists when I do my install.

i ran a set for almost two weeks before i decided i hate them. they have a very slight shrill.. but OEM pads have a terrible groaning noise that is plenty worse lol. they have a linear feel but they're weak imo. if you trust the other drivers in your area then you should be fine

Spend a little more and get the Z26. Better compound and upgraded shims compared to the Z17. Equally low dust.
