DS-1 internal O2 spacer

I was installing the DS-1 last night and noticed the post-cat O2 sensor has what looks like an internal O2 spacer. I've never seen this mentioned. Is this common on other downpipes?

Basically it's an elbow that points towards the downpipe outlet.

I'll be getting tuned in a few weeks so it's arbitrary to me, but I thought it might be of interest to others that are concerned about potential CELs and the DS-1.

I think you'd just need a regular spacer. This one is welded in place, so it's a sneaky spacer. Maybe it works better than a regular one? Or maybe it is just to keep relatively factory placement? I'd be interested to hear CG Precisions reasoning for going with this style.
