ECU questions most likely answered before

I need some clarification as people seem to be using some terminology like unlock, locked, partially unlocked, custom tune, custom rom interchangeably and I am a bit confused.

Purpose of the thread is to understand all possibilities, risks/gains to evaluate how I should move forward.

1) What are the options at Femto?
a. Ship and receive stock locked ecu, receive partially unlocked ecu? Is there a fully unlocked version? What is the difference?​
b. Ship stock and 2020 ecu, get your 2023 ecu cloned to your 2020 ecu in an unlocked form? receive both ECUs, run the unlocked 2020, keep 2023 for taking to dealer?​
c. Ship locked 2023 ECU, get custom rom (BM3) done on it, receive and run the ECU but your original ECU is gone?​
d. Ship locked 2023 ECU along side another locked ECU, have them do a clone and BM3 the cloned ECU, receive both back?​
2) Is BM3 better than unlock (partial unlock)? Why, why not?
3) What are expected gains for these solutions for 91, 93, E25/E30 or race gas?
4) How much does stock DP vs catted DP vs catless DP change these values?

Cloned ECU is only a need if you want to use ECUTEK for the flashing platform.

Bm3 custom rom and MHD plus can both be loaded onto the ecu during the unlock.

Go to BM3 website for info on gains.
