You might not believe this if you just got into F1 but back in the day Sebastian Vettle wasn't well liked at Red Bull either. He won 4 straight WDCs with a far dominate car and there was the perception anyway that they mistreated his very popular teammate Mark Weber.

Mark stated in his book that Helmet Marko would prefer a 1 car team, and that might lead to the notion or reality that the #2 driver at Red Bull gets the short end of the stick.
I hated seeing that FKN finger after every race he won. Couldn't stand Vettel. I started liking him at Ferrari. Webber was shit. He wasn't mistreated, he just wasn't fast enough. He had his days, but way to inconsistent. Just like Perez.

I’ve always been a LH fan from the beginning, he reminded me so much of Rossi in Moto GP just so young and good and arrogant lol. And I always follow my favorite drivers. I’m a Kyle Busch fan and was when he was with Chevy and Hendrik, even though I despised Hendrick. Then went along with him to the Toyota camp which I liked very much. Now that he is back at Chevy I’m still routing for him…

with F1 it was always LH, but I was a big RB fan also. When LH went to Mercedes I went along as a favorite but always pulled for RB. It wasn’t until RB started that we are going to quit if the rules don’t get changed, and F1 is ruined because we are so far behind that really killed me for that team.

Max came along and I got to witness a few of the best drives ive ever seen in the wet. Knew back then he was going to be something special. Then I saw him pretty much turn into a wrecking ball hitting everyone and everything. Which hey he was learning and growing. It wasn’t until he started getting all pissy on how people Raced him even though he’d take someone out the race before.

All that said, I have much respect for RB and for Max, I’m glad I got to witness this part era of F1. I’m glad I got to watch Lewis win like he did, I’m glad I get to see Max do it now. I wasn’t complaining when Mercs went on their run I won’t complain now. Though I love how the only difference now is it’s a blue car and max winning instead of a silver/black car and Lewis..

not that anyone cares, but I’ve had a few since my Knights won the STANLEY CUP!!!

If Haas can pull out a podium today in the dry, that’d be something else. Magnussen (not him, the other guy) drove well in the rain. I just can’t imagine him staying that consistent for 2 hours with Max, Alonzo & the Mercs on his tail. What strategies can Guenther employ if any to stay up there? Wish I was off today to watch the commentary.

Similar to the Ferrari the Haas tends to qualify better than race. With that said Haas has made great strides this year and hopefully gets into the points.

The way it's looking, the race is basically for P2. Max is just there to get some warmup laps done before his iRacing league or something.

Then the others need to step up their game. Just like Red Bull had to when Mercedes was dominant.

Max: ā€œI hit a birdā€œ, ā€œMy stomach is growlingā€, ā€œI almost passed out, hahaā€. Christian: ā€œCopy Max. Keep driving. Shut up.ā€œ And I do like that British commentator with his ā€œcheekyā€ comments how Max has time to pull over, get a newspaper and read it ?

I doubt it’ll take the others 8 years to do so with budget caps ?ā€ā™‚. Austin Martin has moved up at a blistering pace. But Max is stupidly consistent and seems to know how to handle most conditions extremely well. Which will make it even harder for others.

Has Ferrari always been this slow to adjust to racing conditions on the fly and strategy? They did move up well in the pack, but they always seem so… unorganized during a race.

Ferrari were incredible under Schumacher/Brawn/Todt. Strategy was their strong suit. The most legendary win Schumacher has was winning while serving a penalty. Was epic!
And they took all that knowledge to Mercedes where Brawn and Schumacher set everything up at Mercedes, and Todt was FIA president. So you can see where that went. Hamilton got in that car when the work was done, and the rest is history.
Red Bull had to come from a long way back, because they weren't even the 2nd best. Ferrari was.
Red Bull has an advantage, but not as big as Mercedes did in their peak. Both their drivers were clear up the field, and they didn't have to push to the limit. As you can see by Perez's results, Max is making the difference for a large part by bringing the maximum out of the car. Mercedes didn't have to because that car was so much faster, it was almost a guaranteed 1-2 every weekend. And Bottas isn't anything better than Perez.

I actually thought that for once Ferrari did an okay job with strategy this race. To go from 10&11 to 4&5 is no easy task. Mind you they'd likely have been a bit lower had Russel not crashed. Of all the races with Ferrari doing something different than everyone else, this is the only time I can remember over the past two seasons that it actually worked out okay.

Dude… great flashback & analysis!

yeah I’m just 2nd guessing Carlos & Charles telling their racing team when they want to come in and not considering the back of the pack. This race was pretty damn impressive working their way back up there! Good point.

Stupid question. Has Alonzo always been this happy? He’s always grinning during interviews. Iā€˜m stoked for the guy. Hamilton seems more humble than expected. Really good bunch of dudes up there. Max doesn’t seem to take anything for granted. Really digging this series & season.

No he hasn't been. He wants to fight at the front, where he belongs. He finally has a car that can. When he was at McLaren the second time, at Alpine, the cars were awful and he wasn't having a good time.

I find it crazy that couple years ago Bottas was with LH and Mercedes doing well to being with Alfa and being in the back of the pack.

Simple answer..... it's the car. The Mercedes was invincible in Bottas' time, and the Alfa sucks.

Alonso being this happy? Not for quite awhile. He is certainly enjoying himself. Have to admit that Max hasn’t been so unlikeable this season either, I hope it’s him maturing, but I suspect it might be because he is so far ahead of the pack.
