. And my wife will never agree with any of my arguments against him
Haha I like her.

Lando was desperate. He keeps getting schooled by Max despite his McLaren being faster. You saw it in Barcelona, the sprint, and he had an answer for everything Lando threw at him. Max IS aggressive, he has a freaking Lion on his helmet for a reason. Senna, Schumacher, Max, they fight for every win like their life depends on it.

And that's what we want!

Lando's comment after the race "he could've let me by, he had enough wins". That's loser mentality.

They asked Max the question, his answer "then I might as well stay home, I'm here to WIN".

Champion attitude.

Lando had room on the left, Max could have stayed more right, 2 inches and they never would have touched.

To me it's a racing incident. When you're fighting THAT hard, at those speeds, it's bound to happen.

The teams are at fault too. RedBull should've told Max Lando had a 5 second penalty coming, and McLaren should've told Lando the same and secure P2.

But it was awesome to watch.

Here's another good one, Vettel vs Hamilton. Look how far Hamilton is on the kerb.

As a Max fan, holding him (& Lewis) to a higher standard, I gotta agree. He definitely didn’t have his best weekend ? I think at his phenom level, he didn’t need to digress. Which is easy for me to say. Not being in that situation - driving for 2 hours at that intensity, in the fastest cars in the world, knowing you are the quickest that weekend (extract the fastest lap during qualifying), pit stop gone terribly wrong, on used tires, your buddy on new ones, waiting for his tires to finally equalize… It definitely wore him down. And it showed. He should have (and probably did - despite Alex Brundle’s argument that he didn’t) known Lando was on his left when he slightly moved out. He is that good imo. That touch caused an immediate puncture of his right rear. Finesse control being lost after that. Max was (and still is) wrong to call out dive bombing, when he and every other driver does this. Heā€˜s good at every maneuver on track. Lando had to try to get around while he had that advantage.

Is Lando perfect? Nope. He went too far over last weekend and pushed Max off track at the start. It goes both ways for sure. I liked David’s Valsecchi’s commentating. Even though I could barely understand him. Had my closed captions on lol.

I just expect more out of Max. And my wife will never agree with any of my arguments against him ? Throw in having your pit bull dad not knowing when he needs to go up and sit with Carlo’s dad. Max needs to pull a Lewis Hamilton and get his dad out of there. He’s got enough to deal with leading a championship ?

The only thing I would change is the talk about his ā€œoldā€ tires and Landos newer tires, they pitted literally at the same time, so any difference in tire life would be negligible at best. He moved under braking and he definitely knew where Lando was at all times during those attempts to pass. Did you watch the breakdown after the race showing all 3-4 times Lando tried to pass him there. Where they slowed the footage down and showed that Max did indeed steer under braking?

What bugs me the most about it was that there was a high likelihood that he could have passed him right back shortly after. It wasn’t the last lap, and in the spring race the day before he regained the lead almost instantly. Not saying it would be as quick or as easy, just that he should have had confidence in his ability to win the race within the rules. There are absolutely no excuses.

And I totally agree about Lando not being perfect, no driver is, he certainly made mistakes during that race even, but he did not cause Max to crash.

Oh skidmark.... it's not about tire "life" it's about heat cycles. Scrubbed tires are harder to get back up to temperature than new ones. That's why you see drivers have trouble after a safety car period, because the tires won't go back in their operating window.
There are absolutely no excuses.
But there are plenty of reasons, if only you took the blinkers off to look.
but he did not cause Max to crash.
Yeah, because Max avoided Lando crashing into him when he made his desperate divebomb 2 laps earlier (for which he got the track limit penalty) and completely blew the corner.

The buildup for Silverstone this weekend has been set. That’s for sure. It’s going to be phenomenal ?
Let's hope there aren't any more race leaders taking each other out. I feel we were robbed last race of an amazing battle at the end of that race.

She’s a keeper for sure! But gotta say…. I don’t want to be around her if they start booing Max. Aka Silverstone and he wins. She’s going to be pissed ? ? I’ll keep my unbiased opinions in check & save it for this thread. One of the few things I do know…. how to stay married.

For our 1st live race, sheā€˜s already decided we’re going to the Max section at the RB home ring. Or any other Max friendly track.

Totally agree. Especially if they really want to win. Hell, Max has a lion ? on his helmet for a reason. Landoā€˜s little cub tiger image is finally maturing. Unfortunately, at this heightened level between the two fastest guys, it’s bound to happen. Looking back a few races ago, (Monaco?) where Carlos and Oscar touched in a similar manner. I think Carlos came back to podium finish, thanks to a yellow flag.

I tend to think a lot of tracks are Max friendly, not just the RB ring, maybe not to the extent of that one. Just pick a track where there isn't a "home" driver, and you'll likely find that RB/Max love is pretty strong. Even the Mexico GP is pretty good to Max.

My worry is that Max will hold a grudge that Lando cost him a win at his home event and do something to ruin his race at his home track. Not that I think there is a high likelihood of that happening, just that I really hope it doesn't.

Hope you’re right on the other tracks. We know we wouldn’t go to Austin, TX.

I was reading the F1 news app and they say Lando and Max have moved on. Hopefully that’s true. In the end good friendships can last a lifetime. Not something either of them would know at their age. I’m with ya on that.

Of course they moved on. It was nothing to begin with. Just hard racing.. Just the British media blowing it out of proportion because they're still salty over 2021, and the Max haters lapping it up because they're looking for any reason to put the guy down. Add in that British idiot Johnny Herbert in the stewards room that race, who's been biased against Max since he started competing with Lewis, and there ya go. Luckily Max and Lando are better friends than that.

Yeah, you can sense the British favoritism in the commentating. Why I loved that Italian guy’s perspective of the last race. The former racers in general seem much better at unbiased racing analysis.

Yup! Valsecci is awesome. Button had a good take on it too. That's because he speaks as a racer, and not a Brit. Those other idiots, Brundle, Palmer and Herbert don't know what it's like fighting for the lead in F1. Only thing Brundle is known for is his Australia crash, Palmer did absolutely nothing, and Herbert lucked into a win because Hill and Schumacher took each other out (very similarly to last race) in Silverstone. Button is a Champion and can speak from a Champion point of view. But the Brits have ALWAYS been that way. When Senna fought Mansell they hated him, when Schumacher fought Hill they hated him, when Rosberg fought Hamilton they hated him, when Max fought Hamilton, and now Norris, they hate him. They still whine about how Schumacher beat Hill 30 freaking years ago.

I get it. Even as an American, my wife roots for Logan ?. I’m like, you gotta be kidding me!? This guy has got to go!!

But yeah…. Silverstone and British patriotism will be at its peak this weekend. I bet they’ll be foaming at the mouth if Max drives defensively, as he should. If Lando or Lewis get their elbows out, it’ll be considered proper driving ?

Exactly right.

American drivers can't compete with European drivers. The junior classes just don't prepare you well enough over here. That's why all the failures in F1 do well in Indy because it's like taking candy from a baby in comparison. You'll see when Sargeant goes to Indy he'll do much better.

Max won't change a thing. Lando already back paddled that he could and should have used the kerb. We'll see after qualifying if RedBull will have a fight. They didn't look great in practice. McLaren might run away with it.

I’m going to say it, Sainz will be back in a Red Bull next year.
I don't think so. Perez has a contract, so if he's getting demoted he'll still be in a VCARB, Lawson is for sure getting a seat, so it's either Yuki or Ric, and I don't think they'd let both of them go for Sainz. I can see Ric getting promoted after the summer break, and depending on how he performs, it'll be him or retirement, and if it is retirement, Yuki in the Redbull. I don't think Max is leaving in 2025. But for 2026 anything is possible.
