It’s not that I dislike DannyRic but I see that his time is up. Lawson should have a shot at F1. Honestly so should Drugovich and Pourchair.
I’m really excited for the new drivers already seated for next year which should make the season super fun to watch.

I saw a stat that I found quite interesting when thinking about Danny Ric. Did you know that he and Yuki are tied for best race results, 8 times Danny won the head to head, and 8 times Yuki has won head to head. I know I didn't feel like it was that case.

The issue with keeping Danny Ric is two fold, firstly the team is worried about losing Liam Lawson if they don't get him in a seat, secondly one of the RB seats is taken by Sergio Perez whose only on the team because of his sponsorships. If Checo wasn't in his seat, one would think the driver lineup for the two RB teams would be some mix of Max, Yuki, Liam, and Danny.

If nothing else, it shows how much fans love Danny and also how much Danny loves the sport. If it's the end of his F1 career, it's sad, but I don't think he should hang his head, he's had a pretty good career overall.

Couldn’t agree more. There’s a part of me that still hopes they are doing this to judge Liam in the vcarb then will sack checo after Mexico and judge Danny in the RB and go from there.

I got the sense that the results don't really reflect Danny in the car, because the car's been shit and the strategy has been Ferrari-esque. There were a lot of races post-Miami where Danny was making passes, and then some weird strategy call undid it all. The qualifying form was poor, but he appeared to have race pace, albeit sometimes inconsistent.

I agree, Lawson definitely deserves a seat after destroying Yuki in his 5 races last year. And on merit, Danny should have the second Red Bull seat if Checo didn't bring in the sponsorships -- Danny has been placing what is at best the 7th fastest car around where it should place and will bring the car home, but Checo has been underperforming a front-running car.

I agree that Perez is there due to his sponsorship money he brings to RB and because of that he’ll have the seat. Danny would probably be better than Perez in the RB, but all those South American fans, merch sales, and Carlos Slim money talks pretty loudly.

sack checo after Mexico
I was thinking the same - do it after Mexico and Austin. Those fans can be brutal. The constructors is likely lost thx to him anyway. When you look at the other top teams, their drivers are much closer, contributing points.

End of an era if that was Danny Ric's last race, gonna miss his driving.

Also if Lando loses the driver's championship by 1 point, there's no doubt Red Bull using Danny and VCARB to take the fastest lap point is going to be called into question.
I‘ve seen it the other way as well. How/why are they stealing that fastest lap time point from Max, just by going in last minute on fresh tires. I‘m with you & think the fastest lap point should be removed.

I did read where Lewis & many other drivers are supporting Max around the cursing/swearing fine. Seem like the FIA or many reporters, if they like the driver or person, things can be overlooked. But Max dammit…. don't do it!!! ?

I drove over the amazing Passo del Giogo today to visit the iconic Imola race track. The villa where we are staying is at the beginning of this pass at the southern end. We took a wander around the track and visited the the monument to Ayrton Senna at Tamburello corner where he lost his life (now changed in design). This year is the 30th anniversary of his death apparently. Of more interest to me was Imola is the track where Paul Smart riding a Ducati beat Agostini on the MV Agusta in the 1972 Imola 200 race which put Ducati and Paul Smart on the International motorcycle racing map back then in quite a big way.
A few corners on is this memorial to Gilles Villeneuve the great Canadian driver that raced his last race here in 1982 and died at the next race at the Zolda circuit in Belgium during practice.

Sopped by the local village supermercato near Mugello on the way home from Imola to get some supplies. You don't fit many groceries in this thing.

Very nice, I love Italy, I lived in the south outside of Naples (Mt. Virgine) for a year and a half when I was 19. Great times, I didn't visit Imola while I was there which is one of my biggest regrets.

I'm just south of Napoli now. Spent the day at Amalfi.

Always cool to see more companies getting into F1, especially Toyota. They did have a decent run in F1 some time ago, not great but not bad either.
