Wow Brett!! Mega sad… I gotta say my RX8 with a straight pipe was the loudest car I’ve ever owned. I couldn’t imagine that poor guy. I love the design of that engine and how high it could rev 😍. A friend raced one professionally and that thing was so badass rip roaring loud. He can still hear today though. Wore foam earplugs and I still do, even in the Zupra. It made an impression on me. That’s for sure!
I had an Exoticspeed exhaust on my R3, with a Mazdaspeed CAI and cat delete. Sounded so good! and 3 foot flames every time I came off the throttle. I was even able to source an authentic Mazdaspeed spoiler! 🤣

So, are we all ready for the F1 season to get restarted?

Any thoughts about Bottas and Chico getting signed by Cadillac? I think most of us saw that coming anyway.

I think it was a very smart choice to go with those two, even if I'm a little bummed that Danny Ric wasn't interested in the least bit to return to F1. Those two will help that team get up and going a lot faster and really be valuable for the engineers. Having both makes the most sense when starting out, after a couple of seasons maybe bring in a younger/rookie driver while keeping one of those seasoned drivers to mentor him.

It's going to be quite a fun team to watch and I loved that the team addressed the rumors about Horner joining them and that there is no truth to the matter.

I think what most of us hope for is the drivers championship to be a good battle to finish the season, likely trading wins back and forth between Oscar and Lando. Just want it to be won on the track and not due to strategy/pits/mechanical failures. Could be a really fun end of the season if we are gifted this battle.

Yeah, these two breaks sucked.

Bottas and Checo seems like the safe option -- but I hope they get an exciting rookie or young talent in by 2028.

Checo throwing shade at Red Bull for not listening to him about the car was true, but he could have been way more classy about how he said it.

Doens't look like the season's current standings will be changing anytime soon.

As happens almost every Sunday that the F1 race is in the morning, my wife makes us a great breakfast so we can have breakfast while we watch the F1 race. One year she even made them as related to the country they were racing in. Some of those were kind of strange meals and some contained ingredients that were hard to come by... think breakfast in Qatar or Abu Dhabi.

Well that's the championship over. He won't give up the lead from here on.

It's time to retire Lewis.

Was hoping for a bit of restart magic from Max, but the McLaren is just amazing everywhere. Doesn't matter what type of corner it is.

Hadjar fantastic weekend.

It ain't over 'till it's over - if Lando has another nightmare at Monza I'd tend to agree though. (My gut feeling was that Lando needed to win the WDC last year if he was going to get one at all - but this year he seems to have worked on his reslience a bit, so we'll see...)

I still don't get the substantial negativity towards Sir Lewis from so many angles - it's not like he routinely finishes out of the points, not even with Ferrari. (Yesterday and China being the only ones so far I think?) Even when he's having a nightmare season, he is still outperforming half the grid...

I think Max got absolutely everything he could out of the car, barring a double DNF for McLaren that was the best he was going to get.

Hadjar - he's growing race by race, I just hope he has blocked Helmuts number and refuses a transfer to the A team!

George once again just quietly plugging away and bringing home solid results - I wish Toto had taken the risk and put him in at the start of 2021, history might look very different. (I have a feeling he might have beaten both Sir Lewis and Max to the WDC)

LeClerc is going to need counselling I think!

That's the thing, he's out performing only half the grid. In the second best car. Last race he was 12th, while being knocked out in the first round of qualifying, same in Spa, meanwhile his younger much less experienced teammate is putting the same car on pole position and scoring podiums. He hasn't yet had a Grand Prix podium this year. In China the team was disqualified, both him and Charles. But it's not only that, it's the comments of him saying he's useless, not fast enough, etc. You can tell in his driving he's not how he used to be. He's had an amazing successful career, but I think it's time.

I think Lewis would be smart to hang up his driver's suit at the end of the year, just to get out whiles he is still viewed in a positive light and with his legacy in tact.

Even I seriously doubt this idea, but maybe like Kimi Raikkonen, he just enjoys the life style and the competition, so he hangs on just because he enjoys it, not because he expects to win. Lewis doesn't seem to have the same anti-aging gene that Fernando Alonzo has!

I wish George had a slightly better Merc to drive. He just keeps getting solid results.

Hadjar does appear to be the real deal and if the 2026 Racing Bull isn't a good enough car, maybe the 2026 Red Bull will be a car that any driver can drive well, unlike the current car that only Max can drive. Otherwise, Hadjar deserves a drive in a better car... maybe in 2026 or 2027 he can replace Lewis or Fernando or even Lance... if his dad can get his head out of his ass and cut his kid loose and give him a job in the factory!

If Hadjar goes to the big team too early, he'll share the same fate as all the guys before him. RedBull made a huge mistake when they blamed Perez when it was the car all along. But, hindsight is 20/20. So even though Hadjar did great, I wouldn't consider him for a promotion yet. If he can put more performances like these consistently, top 6 results, on the books, then yeah. The worst thing is to be promoted too early.

I'm sure Lewis will be around until someone better comes along, and that might be a while. Or of course the way things sometimes shake up all at once it could be next year. I was hoping he could just maybe win another championship but can see that'll never happen. It's clear he's past his prime. He could mentor someone perhaps, but that won't happen at Ferrari since Leclerc doesn't need mentoring.

I remember the Netflix show, they asked Horner if he could have any driver on his team with Max, and he chose Piastri. Looks like he nailed that one.

🤣🤣🤣 So true!!!! Hadjar did cry in public. So Helmut is unlikely to call him 🤙🏼 unless he promises to never do that again lol.

Poor Charles, stuck on that hill 😢, lost a more compatible teammate (not a fan of marble mouth Carlos but just sayin more fun than woe is me Lewis), and why is Ferrari so bad?!? *(was going through his mind)* Maybe Charles could come to RB???

Don’t get me wrong, Lewis was great! But no one wants to hear constant defeatism and always hiding from the press - needing a different entrance and exit than the other drivers. I agree with Ron, Danny & the others that he should hang his hat (helmet) up while we all remember him as the great driver he certainly was 🏆

Anybody have any thoughts they would like to share about Colton Herta going from IndyCar to Cadillac F1 test driver and F2 competitor?

Personally, I don't think he has been doing very well in IndyCar the last couple of years. Being the Cadillac test driver is no big deal. Any good driver could do that job. Besides, if Cadillac needs him for an F1 role as a fill in driver, who would notice the difference? I think Caddy will be very much a back marker in 2026. So Herta will finish at the back along with whatever teammate he runs with.

I hate being so down on Cadillac. I wish and hope the best for them. But I don't think they are really ready to be anything but behind the curve while they are just getting started. I'd be thrilled to see it go otherwise, but I really don't expect it to happen.
