Alright boys. So to make the story short, anyone know of a decent tire that will hook a 700WHP Supra?

I despise the look of drag pack, so I don’t wanna go that route.

my current wheel specs are 19x9.5 the front, and a 19x10.5 in the rear.
So I’m hoping a 305 will at least fit.

but yea, any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Depends on suspension and wheel offset but my vote if your after insanely loud r888r 305/30/19 or you can go with nitto 555r2 305/35/19 and get ‘em hot they shall hook. Obviously no replacement for et street r or slicks and beadlocks depending on rolls or digs and whether or not you have aftermarket traction control. Just my opinion;)

You might be able to get 555Rii's to hook. MT Street SS's are an option.

Figure out what you want from the car. If you wanna go fast, give up on looks. If you wanna look good, give up on power. It's gonna be a trade-off.

The stock suspension is a must. If you're lowered, forget about good traction (and your axles if you're dig racing).

@Zupraman Makes great traction control. Buy that (Ecutek only, though).

R888Rs are garbage tires and shouldn't be allowed on cars.

I’m on stock suspension for sure bro, not even for like “racing” sake but because the area i live in has terrible pot holes lmao.

in your opinion, between 555R2 and street SS, which would give the edge to?

and to why I don’t go with a drag packis because in socal, it seems the local PDs are pulling over cars with drag packs more often now.
If you get pulled over, you get a state ref, which opens up a whole new world of trouble. :/

and I’m not familiar with the ecutek traction control, what is that? I’m genuinely curious

Totally got ya on the state ref thing. I don't know much about it but @SD_MK tried to explain it to me once.

Without question I'd go with the MTs.

The aftermarket traction control is a little box that reads wheelspeed and outputs that data over CAN. Your tuner can then use that data to retard ignition timing or anything else to help get your traction.. well.. controlled. He's seen some pretty impressive results.

Here's a thread on it.

Maybe ZRK can chime in more but if the Mickey Thompson S/S 305/35/19 sway like my 305/35/18 on my corvette something to think about as well. I agree the Mickeys hook up better than the nittos will but don’t sway as much either. At 700hp I would go with the mickeys myself. All about what you want to do with the car.

Continental Extreme Contact Sports surprisingly do really well. I have them on the Remnant Supra with 305/30R19 and they are having zero issues in 3rd and 4th gear at the current 705whp/703tq. I haven’t tried WOT in 2nd but even 50% throttle and they are happy for sure.

Here is a video of them doing really well too:

My 21 Supra has 702 wheel HP with 648 ft lbs of torque. R888Rs hook REALLY well when they get up to temp. I am in AZ so they get up to temp fairly quick. They sound like you are riding in a helicopter tho.

Honest dumb question here from someone who knows nothing about going fast in a straight line: Why does lowering the car equal less traction? Is it an alignment thing, or is there less traction because the suspension is firmer? Just curious :)

normally if your on lowering springs it will be a stiffer spring so less travel to begin with because its sitting lower. you also get less squat or weight transfer which if your focus is on going straight is pretty important the supra does a very good job at this with the stock suspension most after market suspension if focused on cornering ability and tailored to the demands of high grip. you could probably set up a set of coilovers to be drag focused but the stock suspension is so good it seems like an expensive bath to take for little benefit.

basically it has a much finer control of cutting power so i can keep you on the cusp of traction without loosing power. i come from honda's so im pretty familiar with these type of systems and they help a lot.

imagine your stock T/C is a sledge hammer whacking away at the power level

aftermarket T/C system is a chisel carving the perfect delivery of power

We have R888R in stock, other options are Mickey Thompsons, and other 200 wear tires.

Makes sense to me, thanks.
