Another update:

The dealer talked with a Toyota engineer today. They agree it's the oil pump and I will get the new metal internals oil pump under warranty.
They had to order the part and it'll take about a week to get here and then it's a 10 hour job to complete the swap. (so 2 days) Hopefully I'll have my car back in 1-1/2 weeks or so.

Here is what the Toyota engineer said:
While right now this seems to be a rare issue, we are seeing more and more failing oil pumps coming in as the 2020's push 5 years. If anyone has the oil level check that stops at 16% you should immediately stop driving the car and if your still under warranty get it to the dealer and get it fixed under warranty.

I want to thank the guys in this forum for saving me 1000's of dollars, or even 10's of thousands, by identifying the problem and pointing me in the right direction to get it fixed.

Thank goodness you got this taken care of through Toyota. My '21 that i purchased in July of '21 brand new has a manufacturer date on the door jam of 5/21. 13,600 miles with no issues so far measuring the oil level. Im just hoping my pump has metal parts. ??

Mine was built 9/19, I bought it 7/20. I have 34,200 miles on it now. I only have 2 months left on my power train warranty so I'm glad this came up now instead of 3 months from now. But this is the first issue I've had in 4 years and 10 months of ownership, so I'm happy with that.
I tried finding an official date when the part was switched but like others here I couldn't find much. I know the 2020's have the plastic internals, not sure about the 2021's.

I asked AI and it said: You can try to contact a Toyota dealership and ask them to look up the TSB or part number history in their system. The old part is: 15100-WAA02. The new is 15100-WAA03.

Thankfully I purchased the top of the line 10yr/100k mile warranty on mine. I only have 13,600 miles on her and the warranty doesn't expire til 7/2031. ?‍↔

Sorry never saw this. Currently my car is at the West Herr Toyota. I've tried Batavia Toyota, Bob Johnson, and West Herr. While I've had some issues with West Herr with other cars they have always done my Supra right, so I went there again. Only time I had an issue with the Supra with them was when they wouldn't inspect the Supra since I had tint on the door windows which will fail a NYS inspection. Most places just say F NY and pass it anyway, but they wouldn't. Other than that, the times I went there, they have been good to my Supra.

Yesterday we were waiting to hear from Toyota to approve the warranty and so they could get the correct parts ordered. I didn't hear anything from them today. Hopefully tomorrow they tell me it's all approved and the parts are ready to be installed.
Thanks. I am getting my Supra inspected at west herr OP and am pretty nervous about it. I just had my GR86 there for inspection and 2 year service and the service advisor had to drive it as the tech or whoever couldn't drive manual.

I reached out to a euro place near my work for my Supra but they said they only service euro cars.

Another GR man, an 86 and a Supra, nice. I have the Supra and a GR Corolla. The west herr I went to is near Rochester, I guess Greece suburb, idk all the names of the towns up that way, lol.

The service advisor told me the guy who will work on my Supra is trained on the Supra and owns a Gr Corolla himself. I'm nervous, but I'm sure they'll do a good job.

I find it strange that someone who works as a tech/mechanic (not sure what they are called now-a-days) doesn't know how to drive a manual. If that was my job I'd make it a point to learn. Hopefully you have no issues and if you have the 2020 and your oil pump starts failing it'll happen while still under warranty.

I'm glad you mentioned the extra warranty you can buy. I had completely forgot I purchased the Toyota Extra Care Platinum which is 8 years and 75,000 miles, and it covers the power train. Until you mentioned that I completely forgot. Of course that was 5 years ago, I usually can't remember what I did last week lol. I pulled out my paperwork and confirmed. So I'm good for another 3 years. Thanks for reminding me.

Another update. The dealer got the oil pump in but Toyota didn't have the bolts needed. This dealer has a bunch of dealerships and a BMW dealership is one of them. So they called their BMW dealer and they were able to get the correct parts/bolts.

Then while talking to the BMW tech they decided to take my car to the BMW dealership and have them install the new oil pump since they work on the B58 all the time. Also I guess the tech that will do the work is certified to work on the Supra.

I guess this is good..... have the guys who work on the B58 all the time do the job. Makes sense, but it'll be about another week before I get the car back.

And final update..... Got my car back today, all fixed up with the new oil pump. Two weeks and 2 days total. All done under warranty. Work done by the dealers BMW shop.

I did the oil level check when I got home from work, about 45 minute drive, worked perfect.

I was worried about maybe losing some bimmercode settings with the battery disconnected for almost 2 days, but it all seems fine, everything is there and working fine. I'll go thru the infotainment settings just to make sure it all good.

So any of the 2020's out there, if you get this expect about 2 weeks time from start to finish.
