When going to an 18-in wheel, you have selection from a plethora of tire choices. Also, another benefit, is that you get enough sidewall to help with lateral grip.
Saving quite a bit of weight is a legitimate benefit.
18 in seems to be the sweet spot for most tire diameters around 25 to 26 in.

This for tracking

It's because the sidewall doesn't flex, not because of the width. Do yourself some learning about contact patches. Wider tires will wear slightly less, but require the same amount of force to spin.

You need more sidewall, not more width, and a better compound.

MT E Street R/SS, or NT555Riis. Nothing else matters.
This for drag or what your doing, more street grip :) @JR Supra

You can. I’m running stock wheels now lowered on whiteline springs and running a 10mm spacer in the rear with 305/30/19 and no issues.

so I can put these tires 305s on the stock wheels? Is there a reason people go with the weld wheels other than being lighter im assuming?
people go with Weld wheels bc they look bad ass and makes your Supra look like it will whoop some ass. And wider width and lower offsets…

People go with Welds because they’re 17s.

Maybe A stupid question. But is there any benefits beside weight reduction, to going to a small wheel then the stocked 19s it run on these cars?

If you go 18s with a square set up you can use the same tire sizes front and back. So you can rotate you tires front to rear. Also you can get many more tire choices in 18s.
