My Valentine 1 Gen 1 is available for$75 shipped including a MUCH better mounting bracket. Can upgrade to latest Gen2 for $389 saving you $35 compared to new. The upgrade basically involves sending it in and they send you a new unit.
I use to own V1 as well (awesome radar detector as stated above) but in the recent years, in my area anyway, all the cops started to use laser, which basically made my radar useless (when I got hit the V1 detected the laser, but by then your speed is already recorded).
That said V1 or Escort are awesome detectors. You could get Escorts laser jammer as well.
^ I appreciate the reviews he does. The videos are informative.
I went with the Escort Redline 360c, but boy is it expensive. I have to say though the GPS-driven false alert silencing (which is not by any means restricted to the Escort Redline I have) is the best feature of modern detectors, in my opinion. After a couple weeks my commute to/from work has become very quiet. I had this detector manage to warn me so far in advance of a motorcycle cop hitting people with radar, I just about started to think it was a false. I'm talking like 2+ miles away. LOL!
MAX360c is what I use. I use to be a V1 fanatic until a few years ago. It's been great, customizable, wireless firmware updates, learns false alarms, etc etc. I don't see myself ever going back to eating just peatnut butter cookies when there are other flavors out there.
I'm running the Valentine 1 Gen 2 paired with the JBV1 app. IMO the best radar detector on the market right now. Temporarily using the included visor mount. Going to get a custom headliner mount fabbed by the folks over at Musicar NW in Portland OR and will also tap into the rearview mirror for power, so no more dangling power cord. I've got the Escort Max360c in my 4Runner. Great detector as well, but I gotta give the nod to the Valentine 1 G2, especially when paired with the JBV1 app. Like @satx_phantom said, check out www.vortexradar.com
He is THE radar detector guru and has reviewed literally every single radar detector on the market. He's also a great resource when it comes time to setting up your detector, once you've made your decision on which one to go with.
I have had a Valentine V2 as well as a Uniden R7. Just purchased a new 360c. It is a whole lot less chatty and seems to me more accurate with false positives etc.
I'm currently using a Max 360c which I've been using for a few years. Been thinking of pulling trigger on the Redline 360c and selling the Max360c. Nothing wrong with the Max360c but I want something newer and seems the kinks have been worked out. It has saved me quite a few times and i'm pretty sure it has paid for itself. Gotta love watching folks next to you getting pulled over when they don't realize you slowed down and they keep going at speed.
