How exactly is map 3 destroying turbos?
Map 3 is a high PSI additive map. It adds around 6psi to whatever the DME is requesting. If for whatever reason the DME is requesting 18PSI, JB4 is going to adapt that signal to run 24psi. That's too much for this turbo, it starts blowing hot air around 22/23 PSI. It's also very easy to go lean and burn cylinders with that much boost without more fuel (meth, octane, PI, whatever). The DME will also pull timing at high boost so gains would be lost there.

Look at the logs, and get a JB4 tuner if you want to run anything but 2 or 4. Map 4 is an absolute target map.

Got it - now it makes more sense. Thanks @zrk . Stuff like this is the reason I just went with the JB+ until I can actually tune my ECU. I would be the idiot burning up his turbo in this scenario 'cause gainz. Another somewhat related question for you or anyone reading this thread: Anyone attempt to just dump octane booster in the fuel tank on a relatively stock car or one running a JB4/JB+? If they have, were there any benefits? I'm unclear on how much the stock ECU programming or the piggybacks mention can really take advantage of it. I actually have some for my truck, which runs a tune that requires 93, that I keep around for when I'm traveling in an area where I can't get it. Been eyeing it lately while working on the Supra.

If the octane is actually up, the trims will come down. It shouldn't matter how it gets in there. Race gas is an option for those with it available as well.
