Bought a used JB4 from a member which had ewg pre installed. After the install the car goes to limp mode saying EWG line disconnected. When I put the original EWG harness limp mode and cel goes away.

I have set JB4 to base settings and updated the firmware to latest.

I have also done a continuity test on the EWG harness and everything checks out as in black bypass wires are fine, blue wire goes to pin 16 on the connector purple goes to 9 and my continuity tester beeps across all of them.

When ewg disconnected, car in accesory mode and jb4 running, there is no continuity between purple and blue wires which are supposed to be making contact inside the jb4 module somewhere in the chip.

Any thoughts? JB4 support first asked if I enabled ewg but when I asked how to “enable” it they said just make sure the harness is right.

The firmware you are running shouldnt make a difference at all. The earlier firmwares just ignore the fact that its plumbed into the JB4. The later firmware (58/20//5) is the one that activates it. Can you verify what firmware you are on? Either way though, it shouldnt matter.

Are you running an off the shelf map or custom map 6?

58/23/5 , standard maps, actually just map0.

Let me see if I can dig up my old diagram of what the pins are for the EWG connector into the JB4. I think you got those right though.

Can you verify that none of the harness cables have been burned through? Seen that exact issue come up on the JB4 forums. I figure you checked already, but ya never know...
