This should be shared in one of the main channels for everyone with Femto knows
I agree, only if i known that paying that much for tune and then i have to go through all this bull crap. I would’ve never messed with it. But alot of people going through it no one brings it up.

Ugh, that sucks man. I was really hoping it worked out. I think this is why people clone their ECU to avoid this BS. Have you asked any of the BMW guys in Massachusetts? They might give some insight into this.

Check this out. Seems the the BMW guys are passing with BM3/MHD tunes.

They are claiming that it's all about the monitors being in a Ready state as well as turning ALL OEM emissions controls on.

I wonder if there's something you're missing OP? Not saying that you haven't checked already but it's probably something stupid small that's causing the failure.

Ah crap, sorry man. Do they check the CAL ID and CVN as part of the regular state inspection or is this only because you had to go to the MAC?

they just implemented this where they check if the ecu is tampered even though all the monitors are ready you will still fail. I had to go to go toyota todo flash stock update. Best way to avoid it is buy another ecu tune it and enjoy keep the stock one as is. Every year pass the inspection with it. Lol

its the safest way trust me. If you get flagged then they make you go all stock which is more hassle. Its better to play safe then sorry.

Relatively inexpensive to get a South Dakota license to register your cars there. Never mess with inspections and stop paying insane excise taxes too.

I spoke to Femto and they said
all factory checksums and cvn are preserved after our unlock. But they may change after tuning, you need to ask your tuner to create a proper tune, so everything will be preserved "as stock".
OP - I'd honestly go back to Femto and ask them about this if you haven't already done so. It seems really odd that flashing back to stock and having all the readiness green doesn't pass inspection. Even in a state like California, people are passing emissions with unlocked ECUs. Something doesn't add up.

Makes me glad I just moved out of the state this weekend down to Florida. No more inspections, front plates or excise taxes for me. Best of luck with the inspections

I think bm3 software changes the cvn number and doesnt match with the oem one. So i went back and forth with mac department. They dont know anything tbh all they want to
Do is make sure the car has stock flash tune. They made me go to toyota to get stock tune in and bring in the paperwork and cleared the car

I ran into the exact same thing in Mass with BM3 and an AMS catted DP. Flash it back to stock and make sure that anything modifying the catalyst monitor is just set to OEM. BM3 turns off the CEL monitoring for the cat even with the stock map, I didn't realize this and had to go see the state referee as a result :). I had to go back to my original test when I bought the car to confirm what things were already unsupported. A/C system, Secondary Air, and Catalyst Heater were all unsupported from the dealership inspection.

You're gonna want every monitor ready so get yourself a cheap OBDII scanner that will show you emissions readiness.

After a lovely evening in the MACS I passed with the AMS DP.

Do you know if BM3 changed your calibration ID and CVN on the stock map?

I'm honestly not sure, I may have gotten lucky and just slipped by as I wasn't asked to produce any paperwork from toyota saying the CVNs matched up. So many others from the BMW camp had to get the dealer re-flash on various models that I'm pretty sure it does.

I've also seen this question asked so many times, surprised BM3 doesn't make that clear in their documentation. Or perhaps it is and I just didn't read it?
