Mechanic flushed in wrong coolant type

Took the car to an independent shop (after a negative experience at the dealer) for a coolant flush and got the wrong type of coolant in.

I know the car takes green HT-12, as all BMWs have since 2020.
Mechanic put in blue G48 coolant, which was the old type used by BMW up until 2019.

They tried to reassure me that it's the same and there's no concerns, but since I track the car, I have concerns.

They're willing to flush in green coolant free of charge but didn't say it was HT-12 and just called it "generic". Should I push to have them put the appropriate coolant?

I'm even willing to buy it for them if I have to.

I'll share a post on the BMW boards I bookmarked a while back. The gist is that the two coolants that you are describing can be mixed:

Supposedly they're identical except for the HT-12 addition, and of course the dye for color. And the HT-12 is for longevity and so if you're changing it ahead of schedule again in the future then it may indeed not matter.

I don't track my cars so I won't say for sure either way but hopefully that's useful info.

To echo what @tracer bullet said, the only thing different is likely the longevity, which would only matter if you're planning to wait another six or more years to flush it again. The manufacturers add their various dyes in to differentiate and spook consumers into purchasing their specific overpriced coolants.

Just run it as is, and if all goes well, change it out in another couple years. No big deal. Nothing is going to blow up, fail, or leak.

I really appreciate your guy's help. I did find some sources saying that cars which require the green coolant aren't reverse compatible with HT-12 though. The TIS doesn't really mention being able to mix them.

By the way, Would anyone know how to flush them low temperature coolant loop for the air conditioning please?
