Only got 6k miles on the odometer. Changed oil once at 1200 miles. Put it on the hoist. Changed oil filter. Drained oil let it drip for 15 minutes. Put drain plug back. Poured in 7 qts oil. Was about to change oil tomorrow for my 5k oil change interval. Yes i did use 0w20. While driving today got the oil at minimum level. Add one quart blah blah. I don’t see any oil leak either. Should i just go 5w30 or make appointment for dealer?

Verus aos (no oil inside lol)

May have found my problem. Dumbass me. I remember when changing to the paragram oil filter billet cap i might of broke the bypass valve when transferring it. Gonna swap that out and see if still has oil consumption.

Going to 5w30 is a good thing, consumption or not.
It's a high performance engine, and if you treat it as such, it's going to burn some oil. Oil is cheap, so don't worry about it. 4800 miles on a quarter if I read your post correctly is absolutely fine.

Being 1.5 quarts low at 5k miles is within allowed oil consumption. You will pass Toyota’s oil consumption test.

Ditch that aftermarket oil filter cap and just use o-ring grease on the stock cap o-ring and threads. It will come off easier and less worry of it breaking.

Just wanted to ask about this, recently picked up my Supra 2nd owner and had the oil changed before I received it. Now sitting about 1200 miles I'm down to 25% on the oil level test that sounds a bit extreme or normal?

I do think there is some oil consumption on these engines as all engines do. But in our case I think a lot of these are cars that people don’t service themselves. I think they are being underfilled from the get go at the oil change. People mix up the fact it needs 6.9 qts or 6.5 liters and I think they are filling 6.5 qts. Just my thought

I can see that, I'll do my own oil change here in a bit and monitor the consumption.

BMW engines are designed to burn oil. How much they burn will vary depending on use, tolerances, etc. However, be careful because once you get that low oil warning, you may be closer to two quarts low rather than one.

100% this. That add 1 quart is misleading.

Every time I have changed oil on mine I just dump the full 7 qts in there because an extra 1/2 qt isn't going to hurt anything and hasn't in the 15,xxx I've put on the car. I've changed oil 3 times now and I don't believe I've lost more than about a half quart between changes.

Sorry I forgot it's 6.9 qts. I was just thinking of the roughly .5 qt or less it uses after an oil change cycle.

If that's what you meant

All good. Just funny since few posts earlier mentions how people mix up 6.9qts and 6.5L, so point got proven pretty quick.
