I have a 2021 Supra premium 3.0 got a alert that said drivetrain issue and would be low power continue driving (limp mode) and wouldn’t boost very much. then about 2-3 days later gave another message saying “rear differential lock” and the pedal went dead like there is no throttle car runs but just pressing the gas pedal, nothing happens even in park. So I left the car sitting for couple days now won’t start just keeps turning over. My main question is I know there is a switch on the bottom of the transmission to put into neutral. Do these cars not have any other way so I don’t have to jack the car up I need to have it towed. Any advice on the code or if you have had this before would be appreciated and also an easier way to get into neutral I know 340’s you can press start 3x and then hold the unlock button and pop the shifter level foward 2x butbintriednthat several times and no go.

How's your battery health? Have you checked it? Based upon what I've read and seen, getting underneath is the only way to put it in neutral. It could be that the flat bed tow truck driver can put each rear tire on a wheel dolly, then pull it onto the bed.

Yea smartest idea ever eh. Make the car virtually immobile and stuck where ever the hell it decided to quit. I guess Toyota or BMW don't even trust owners to be able to roll a car to a safer/more convenient location if it quits for some reason. Some BMW's have an under hood cable release system I believe, sensible idea.

Battery was great but we ended up getting it, lucky our tow truck driver has towed the mk5 before and it’s not even a stupid screw like the vids show or bmw stated. It’s a lever that you pull down and wedge something in to keep it down ?‍♂ dumbest crap Ever but it’s at the dealer ?‍? wish us luck.

Mk5jay where is that lever?
It is on the driver side of the transmission. Push this lever upright and wedge something between the bottom edge and the metal tab molded into the transmission casing. You can stick a screwdriver in there to wedge it open, many transmission builders just stick an m8 nut in the gap for shipping.

So just to be clear, you push (not rotate) the lever shown towards the transmission? I see a pin, rib, and cradle in the photo. The lever looks like it can rotate, but I've never had to touch it.

The lever moves in one direction: up. If you can push it upwards and get a screw/nut/screwdriver/whatever in the gap that gets made, the transmission will be in neutral. It is spring-loaded, stiff, and defaults to not neutral (down/bottom/end stop) position. Watch your fingers. Works best if you bring a long metal tool capable of pushing the lever because some of them can be pretty painful on your fingers.

You pull the lever down for neutral, not up.

It looks like he drilled a hole in the lever to insert a zip tie.

Thank you. It has been several months since I used the lever. Down it is!

My macro point is: don't overthink it. Move the lever, jam it open, check the driveshaft. If it spins, you're good. I believe all 8HP51 on the Supra have this drilled hole in the lever to give it a yank. Mine does, and all the photos I've seen of Supra transmissions seem to have it as well.
