Odd Downshift

There are times with this car when I downshift that:

• I get 2 separate burbles (burble - stop - burble) the during a shift
• It feels like the torque converter lets go when the burbles stop and then engages again and the burbles start again

At first I thought it was some kind of mechanical over-rev protection as it happened a few times going down a larger hill on the way to work and my RPMs were high ish after the shift but I've since seen it at much lower RPMs (3-4k). It probably happens maybe once a week or less.

I only ever drive in sport 'manual' so I've never seen the full-auto do it or have any experience with 'normal' mode shifting either.

Just wondering if anyone else has felt this while driving around...
