1971 Chevelle Nitro Yellow
A warm hello, and thank you for allowing me to post on your forum. I hope nobody looks at me negatively, or as having been deceptive in getting on here; certainly was never my intention! My story begins 20 years ago when I bought my car, and the latest chapter began 2 1/2 years ago when I started the restoration. My car is a 1971 Chevelle, and I decided that I would teach myself to do all of the restoration of the body, from welding in patch panels all the way to painting it myself at home. I reached a milestone when I needed to start thinking about what color I was going to paint it. I had promised myself that, although blue is my favorite color, I wouldn't choose a color that was too common or that simply blended in with all of the other cars on the road today. Driving to work one morning half asleep, I nearly got whiplash when I caught a glimpse of a Nitro Yellow Supra in someone's driveway! Immediately I knew, I had found my answer! Still not completely reassembled, here are some pix of my 1971 Chevelle finished in PPG matching of Nitro Yellow! I hope you all can appreciate my tribute to this amazing color!:)

(by the way, although my blood bleeds Chevy "bowtie blue", I happily own a RAV4 and a Corolla too LOL!) Thank you all, God bless, and make sure to vote!

nice resto on the '71.
did you put the 454 in there?
the round tail lights of the '71/72 are my favorite.

Thank you! It's got a 10.5:1 355 right now, posi rear with 4:11 rear, more of a street/strip build. The main goal of doing the resto myself was to be able to save for the stroker motor I have planned. ?

Nice restoration. Beautiful car. I've seen so many different shades of yellow on cars, but the NiTro yellow on the Supra did it for me. Very nice choice.

Year and half ownership, probably will stay in this build for a while unless I save big chunk of money for a bigger turbo and wider wheels
I love the different vents in the side of the hood. The ones on top of the hood are a bit much for me, but they look OK if you are doing track days and looking for that race car image.

You’d like it more if it was red ?

You mean if the vents were red? Actually, I'd like them better if they were/are real vents and I could light them up from the insider with a dim red glow from some LED lighting!

Nah light up is such ricer car thing. But yes the vent on top of the hood is functional.
