i just talked to my sales guy and got the scoop......all the a91's are missing the wing....my car will be ready to pick up on monday the 31st..he told me they are going to ship the cars out and reduce the price on the a91's the cost of the wing ($1200) and the owners can all be eligible to buy the wing when they arrive in December and have it dealer installed. so good news is i should have my car on monday...bad news is i have to wait till December to get the wing
What state is yours

New update from my dealership. The rear wing shortage it is true! Two options: 1. discount $1100 from the agreement price 2. go back to the dealership December paying the difference get the wing installed. So we can get a completely package before Christmas :bump:

I can verify the above posts are pretty accurate.

I just got off the phone with the general manager where my A91 is supposed to be delivered and the regional rep. There has been an issue with the supplier of the carbon fiber ducktail wing that is supposed to come on the A91s. None of them have them on at the port and Toyota is holding them all there until they either get the wings in, OR the owner's/buyer's have been contacted and are "okay" getting it without the wing. Those that have already had theirs ordered and a deposit placed will be given priority; both for those choosing to get their cars without the wing and wait and those choosing to wait for the wings to arrive at port and be installed by those folks.

For those who's A91 was shipped to the "east coast"; they may be getting theirs pretty soon (a week or so) IF they choose to take it without the spoiler. They'll get the car early, but they will then be placed later in line once the spoilers come in. This will not be December but more likely not until next spring for those taking the car earlier.

Those of us choosing to wait until the spoilers arrive at the port to have them installed by the people that do that there, we will not be getting the car until October or even November. (sorry for the bad news). I was advised by both the general manager and the regional rep to wait for the spoilers to get to the port as those individuals have been trained to install the wings correctly; the folks at each of the dealers have NOT. Both people also said that their techs, even once the wings come in to the dealers in 5-6 months, most likely won't have been taught how to install these things.

The call from them truly bummed me out and I'm sure it will do the same for all the others that were excitedly waiting on these things.

Of course if one is going to go the aftermarket route anyways and put on a huge wing from APR or the Streethunter wing then maybe it's worth taking the car early without the duckbill...

I just want my damn car already and want to have some cool fall days left to rip some turns and mountain drives...

I assume the spoiler is the TRD part ?

IIRC they require holes drilled to bolt them up during install, the kinda thing you would want done right as its pretty much permanent

Sounds like we'll end up paying a bit more $ in the long run if we choose to accept the A91 without the rear spoiler.

Though the MSRP of the carbon rear spoiler will be reduced from the overall cost of the vehicle, buying it back later at MSRP will also mean you'll pay extra because of the sales tax plus the labor cost for the install (either at Toyota or another shop if you're not doing the install yourself).

My guess is they'll reduce cost of install to make up for it.

You'd pay sales tax either way, either with the car being $1100 more plus tax or tax on the part itself. No difference, at least in Ohio. I'd argue that the install should be free since the car was supposed to come with it. I don’t think they'd argue that.

First aftermarket wing I pick out... 10mo wait. whaaaa.

Agree it won't be hard to push for free install. While I actually prefer being able to pick my own, this is still a fk up on their part. Running out of parts isn't unusual, but finding out the moment before deliveries were supposed to start is.

At least we have the option of getting the car. If we were forced to wait I would've changed to a regular '21.

Does anyone knows the rear spoiler from Toyota it’s screws on or just taps on with double sided tape?
