From my understanding it’s the TRD spoiler lip and that does get drilled and bolted on along with the 3M tape. There is a thread on the forum showing the instructions.

From the text I read from the rep it’s not a guarantee that the spoilers will be available the same time they will be available at port. He said he wasn’t sure if or when they would become available as a Accessory.

Also the credit they are providing if you take the car now doesn’t represent the cost of the spoiler in the future. The dealers will charge a fee to install unless you have a written agreement but Toyota won’t be paying to have them installed at a discounted price in the future.

It will cost you more and it won’t be the same time period as if you wait for it to be installed at port. Just going off my 17 years with Toyota and knowing what our district rep texted my manager.

After going back and forth I’m going to wait to have it installed as there is to many unknowns if and when I could get it and the cost to purchase the spoiler.

My car is sitting in Jersey and it gets nasty there during the winter months. Rain, snow, plus the salt in the air from sitting literally next to the ocean, no thanks. I'll have my car safe in my garage. My dealer called the rep in front of me, and told me the spoiler would be available at the same cost as is deducted, installed, since it's supposed to come with the car to begin with. I might have them put something on paper saying that just in case, but they've honestly been great through all this. I'm going to enjoy the car for a few weeks until it's time to get stored for winter, and when the spoiler becomes available, I'll go have that done. But at least it'll be safely parked out of the nasty weather in the meantime.

yep all the a91s are being held back at the port because of the spoilers. They are still shipping out the cars without the spoilers. You will able negotiate the price at your dealer if you still want your spoiler or not. If you still want the spoiler, they will be about 2 months out from now.

Greedy dealers advertise A91 (without even having the cars yet)
Greedy dealers shamelessly mark up car
Greedy dealers hit with delays
Greedy dealers forced to delay sale and put customer at risk
-or-
Greedy dealers must deliver an incomplete car for LESS money
Greedy dealers must potentially pay their service techs to install something and recoup $0 for it
Greedy dealers now have a potential mess on their hands until each A91 sale is “whole”

If it weren’t such a nightmare for you guys (the buyers), I’d be all for this as the dealers deserve every bit of pain headed their way.

Hyperbolic much? Lol no customer is “at risk”. Can hardly blame a dealer for Toyota not being able to secure the supply. Those who want the stick on spoiler will get it or will get an after market one. Simple as that.

I think some LE’s in 2020 in Europe were delivered without the special stick on cf badge that goes inside the car - everyone lived :dunno:

Sorry to burst your bubble but this is not dealers fault at all. They have no control over this and the dealers shouldn’t be punished for something they didn’t do and have no control of. They are frustrated also as they want the vehicle sold and delivered.

Is there shady dealers out there. Is there some Greedy dealers yes. With that said an item is only worth what an individual will buy it for. If there is a shortage of something the prices go up. The used car market has went up several thousand dollars in the last few months due to shortage.
Look at the Corvettes, I know of several dealers that are 20k over MSRP and people are still willing to pay it. If you don’t see the value in the vehicle then people won’t buy it. You should see the markup in jewelry, RV and other items, people flip houses and make huge profits. It’s just not the car business. Nothing wrong with making a profit. There is a line Though were people are shady and deceive people. That’s what I have an issue with.

Puzzled by the decode errors. Never suggested the dealers were at fault or that it would be the end of the world.

I’m suggesting I don’t feel sorry for them and that it’s poetic justice after they’ve imposed their greedy policies on this vehicle.

You'd pay sales tax either way, either with the car being $1100 more plus tax or tax on the part itself. No difference, at least in Ohio. I'd argue that the install should be free since the car was supposed to come with it. I don’t think they'd argue that.
^^^ I agree ^^^

From the conversation with the general manager and regional rep, it does NOT sound like they will be able to charge for the install if one decides to get the factory spoiler once they come in since it was supposed to come on the car. The spoiler itself is supposed to be around $1,100-$1,250ish; if a dealer tried to charge you for installing it, I would argue it too.

I just got a call from my dealer. Pre-order an A91, Refraction Blue. My car will come into a CA port since i'm in the mid west. They stated 1) the cars have not arrived at port and still dont have a date for that yet, 2) it is delayed because of the spoiler, 3) that they will NOT give me a discount on the car and sell it without the spoiler, 4) I have a choice, wait tell Decemberish to take delivery or they will get to to me ASAP without the wing and without a discount, and no gaurentee they will get the wing because they have had issues with Toyota in the past sending them OEM parts for cars after they are delivered. ..... Now the delima. I don't care about the wing and frankly I would replace it anyway. That said it's crap that I dont get a discount and no gaurentee of the part, something I would likely resell.

Sounds like you might need a new dealer. That so many of us were told on the same day the same message suggests it's Toyota pulling the strings and setting the policy and communication. That dealer may be trying to pocket the difference.

We are all getting the discounted price. They're going to adjust the window sticker so you should too. Your dealer is just being shady.

Curious... I got mine at MSRP, no ADM. Is everyone getting the reduction paying sticker or did you pay a premium?
