We're happy to introduce an alternative Toyota emblems set.
The best part is we're open sourcing it.

Me and a friend started developing a cheaper alternative to some well known too expensive (in my opinion) emblems.
Especially for people overseas, import costs can be quite high.

At the moment you can see our below prototypes.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prototype 1: Front/Rear in with normal backing plate

This prototype has the D09 Refraction Blue color code. A local company was quite good in paint matching this color with our test Supra. This was all spray painted by me.

Prototype 2 (failed): Rear backing plate with handy trunk grip

In this prototype we developed a backing plate that allows for a better and more comfortable grip to open your trunk.
It comes with a esthetic cost though. As you can see the backing plate and emblem combined are more bulky.
During installation on the car we noticed it was too bulky. So we're going back to the drawing table for this design. Got an idea? Let us know.

Prototype 3: Rear backing plate with trunk grip and oversized logo

This prototype has a less bulky backing plate and uses part of the oversized logo to use as grip. The logo itself is not of the "concaved" type that OEM badges use. This one is more flat.

The backing plate for this prototype uses guiding pins for easy and correct installation. Super handy!

Possibly you could stratch the trunk paint with your fingernails. So some paint protection film might be a good safeguard.

If you chose this prototype. Your best bet is to have these Toyota emblems printed via a resin printer.

Also make sure the backing plate has enough infill. The first of this prototype ripped itself apart due to the strength of the VHB 3M tape being stronger than the backing plate itself.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIY:
The necessary STL files for 3D printing can be found below. Make sure the sizes are reasonable and not too small. In rare cases the size might be off by a factor of 10.

As a service:
If you rather not DIY this, we do offer a service to make it for you and ship it to you.
In the spirit of open sourcing this project. We're publishing our bill of materials and labor costs so you know what our asking price includes.

  • 2x original/OEM Toyota Emblems - 50euro, in time this cost might be greatly reduced by custom printing these.
    • P/N: SU003-03216
    • P/N: SU003-03219
  • 1x Supra body color paint can - 20 euro/single order
  • 1x 2k clear coat paint - 20 euro/single order
  • (depending upon request) 1x color paint can to finish the Toyota logon in a different color (default chrome) - 8 euro/single order
  • (depending upon request) 1x 2k clear coat satin finish - 20euro/single order
  • 3d printing the backing plates (includes material, device maintenance, reprint and electricity costs) - 5 euro
  • 1x 3M VHB double sided tape - 5 euro
  • Others: 50 euro
    • Labor (painting, sanding, assembly, quality control)
    • Shipping
Single order total cost = 178 euro (everything included, excluding below mentioned customization)
Buying in group should reduce the price greatly.

Side note:
customization is possible but additional costs apply.
For example we could:

  • Use a different Toyota Logo (old "TEQ" style), GR-logo, QR-code or maybe your social media handle.
  • Have the logo in any color you prefer

If you would like to have your emblem created by us, please let us know in this thread and/or in private message.
We'll work in batches. Depending on popularity, we will update this forum post with our batches, group order requests and shipment time frame estimation.

Important: We cannot guarantee a 100% paint match at the moment. But think we will come darn near close.
We will however do our best to have it paint matched to your Supra's color code.

If it makes you happy in any way: funding this project will directly fund open source mod ideas for our Toyota Supra and our 3d printing setup.
We're not doing this to make a profit. Just to give something back to the community. That's why open sourcing this is our main mission.

Interesting project -- Well done.

I would suggest you keep look into that handle idea as it seems like a good one. It obviously adds thickness but curious to know how it would actually look on the car. Also, I would suggest making the Toyota logo larger. Unlike some of those super expensive emblems, I think it actually looks a lot better if the Toyota logo is in line with, or even slightly overhangs, the backing plate. The EmblemsOnly badges are pretty on the money in this regard.

Good luck with the project.
