Hey all, quick advice wanted.

I’ve got a 2-year-old Toyota Supra. Before delivery the dealer repaired and resprayed part of the front bumper (they installed front mounts I didn’t want and patched it).

Recently I’ve noticed clear coat / paint peeling in that same area. There is definitely a bird strike and a golf-ball-sized dent on the underside, but the peeling looks more like paint lifting than a normal chip.

Just after honest opinions:

  • Is it even worth taking this to Toyota, or will they almost certainly say impact = no warranty?
  • If not, can anyone recommend a good panel beater who does quality bumper resprays and colour matching in Melbourne ?

Do you have proof/this in writing? Since it’s technically not factory paint, I don’t think they would cover it under warranty. I would talk to the dealer and they may able to repaint it for you.

Warranty? Not if it's been subjected to an impact it won't be. Peeling without any damage then sure would be a warranty issue. Pretty decent hit you got complete with scratching as well.

Haha yeah, the bird definitely did a number — birds these days would rather cross the road 😂

The mark itself isn’t really a scratch though, it’s more the clear coat cracking from the impact which presume then caused the the actual pealing of the paint above

Well trying for a warranty repair costs you nothing. I'd whinge about the fact that they "patched up" a brand new car and that you're not surprised that this is the end result - I hope you asked them to respray the whole bar instead for added weight. While I'm pretty sure they''ll weasel their way out of it, it's worth a shot.. after all, the worst they can say is no. 🤷‍♂️

We have lots of Ducks around my area that waddle across the road, and I mean heavily trafficed roads and the greenies here emergence brake for the little bastards and cause accidents/near accidents. If you stop for them they take their sweet assed time to waddle across the road and hold up the traffic. When I come across them I slow to about 25 and keep going. The little bastards then get the message and get their arses into gear and scoot across the road. Haven't hit one yet. You gotta let em know crossing the road is a mission not some cakewalk, lol.
