I almost bought a Lapua 338 last year but it was too much for what I needed. I deer hunt with this rifle. I have a lot of pasture land and a pipeline in front of my house so I have tons of places to shoot at home. I started to build a Creedmore but the deer here are pretty big so I wanted something in a 308 that I could reload for. I got in touch with a guy that shots long range and writes a lot of article on it and he was really digging the 30 Nosler (basically a hotter 300 win mag). Since I reload I can play with the charge and bullet depths in the case. I’m pretty conservative with this load right now. 215 grain Berger pushing 2850 fps. I’ll probably leave it alone for now since deer season opens next month.I daily a PPQ SC AIWB. Home guns are all PPQ also, was a huge Sig 365 guy until i shot the PPQ and we all just love them.
I bought a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor couple years ago. I've been out to 500yds really good. Vegas has a long-range shooting club, but I've never been. That was one of those, I want to do it, bought it, did it, and it's just sat now. I'd like to hit a mile out a few times, but I should've just gone and bought the .338 Lupua when I bought everything. At the time though only 6.5 was around. I couldn't find .338 anywhere.
