Piston stuck to pad

Took off my calipers to get them powder coated, struggled mad hard to get the brake pads out and this happened.

suggestions on how to get them unstuck? Any possible damage just using a rubber mallet and smacking it off? Lol

And any suggestion on how I can prevent this or what I probably did wrong would be nice as well.

Yea Brembo put VHB on the pad meaning they can be hard to get off ... I ensure brakes are warm (by driving) to help make glue a little more soft .. then wiggle pad rather than pull.
