Oof! My housemate has an s2k. I always thought the front was what you had to worry about not the rear!

Also kinda wild how the rear quarter looks fine!
Right? I got lucky on that one. No quarter damage. Rook out the knuckle, axle, hub, etc (not the shock somehow?). Great car though.

Original knuckle at that point was 19 years old and over 150 track days. Internal micro cracks and metal fatigue in the knuckle over time caused the failure.

Lesson learned... Replace old parts. Everything is a consumable!

Ahhh well, considering the age and amount of stress id say they did more than enough lol. Speaking of microcracks, I just powdercoated a friend's e46 m3 subframe and knuckles in battleship grey so its easier to ID small fractures.

I had this happen at WTAC last year, shock gave up completely and seperated into two.
We were meant to have MCS golds, but they didn't get made in time and we were obviously asking too much from street focused taiwanese shocks.

Luckily there was no other damage done but understeering off turn 1 at SMSP at 180kmh was a proper pucker moment.
