Good evening all, potentially looking at a new Supra as my next car, but still not quite 100%

Currently I have a Lotus Elise CR and an Abarth 595 Scorpioneoro, both good cars, but considering getting rid of both for the Supra

I do 60 miles a day to and from work and 8 months of the year that’s in the Abarth, the 4 “better” months if there is such a thing in the UK is in the Lotus, being an Elise CR it’s not really a daily and I’m thinking driving a Supra everyday would be pretty epic!

Also adding to the mix we bought a puppy and need a car we can all get into (me, misses and the dog) we took the dog to the local dealer and he made himself comfortable in 10 seconds, so can’t see that being too much of an issue, as long as we can securely strap him in

So here are the first of many questions on the GR Supra 3.0 Pro…..

1. does it come with any anchor points in the boot? Some seem to have these, others don’t?

2. are the new wheels like the Jarama Track limited edition?

3. interior lights coloured like the BMW Z4 or more standard and Toyota like?

4. what is the real world MPG? 60 miles per day is it a good time to buy a 3.0? ;)

5. anyone else take their dog in the car? Any covers / extras recommended to protect the car?

6. is it worth a 9 month wait?

7. where are the best deals at? (Local dealer very good, not the cheapest)

Thanks in advance

I'll answer the questions I can:
4: entirely depends on how you drive it. Drive it like a sports car, you'll be looking at < 20 mpg. Drive it in normal with start/stop on a highway going 60 mph, you'll be getting 30+ mpg.
5: @Suggs.OR is the best person to ask for this.
6: Yes, 100% worth the wait

If i recall there are 4 anchor points on boot floor, plus a elastic strap on right, and netted area on left, I'll get photo later.

Interior lights are led warm white for map reading and general door open lights, the accent lights are red which point to the dash lighting up the shift select

I've got a dog but he's not been in the supra yet... don't think I'll let him tbh haha

It's 100% worth the wait such a rare car and you get loads of kit for the money.

I just got a random car seat cover off of chewy. It’s worked out well so far for my road trip so far. Other than that I grabbed a seat belt buckle I could attach to my dogs harness. Biggest mistake I did was not fully protecting the passenger door, couple small scratches but not ever selling it so isn’t a big deal. Other thing is just the dog hair and getting a good vacuum

Buy one, I would by one from Toyota approved again. New I think they’re £55k, one with 1000-5000k miles approx £45k, no brainer. They’re not devaluing at the moment but when the manuals out I think It’ll drop a bit but regarding fuel it’s terrible, my screen says it 12mpg at the moment.
I would also get some protection on the rear arches as they take a beating from stone chips. Do it

Hi, great questions all and I'll see if I can address them:

1. does it come with any anchor points in the boot? Some seem to have these, others don’t? - Yes there are 4 of them, the boot is about 10 cubic feet and can fit a surprising amount given it's a hatch. I believe it will fit more than your Elise, not sure about the Abarth. There is very little compartment space within the cabin, but you can always place items directly behind you (the cabin and boot are connected).

2. are the new wheels like the Jarama Track limited edition? - Not sure if UK market gets something different, but the 3.0 in North America has forged black and silver alloy wheels, and the 2.0 has more of a traditional silver polished look.

3. interior lights coloured like the BMW Z4 or more standard and Toyota like? It's all BMW inside.

4. what is the real world MPG? 60 miles per day is it a good time to buy a 3.0? ;) Averaging about 30 mpg mostly highway on the OE tyres.

5. anyone else take their dog in the car? Any covers / extras recommended to protect the car? I have a car cover as it's parked outside, Covercraft HP Weather shield. Well worth the expense and keeps the paint in pristine condition.

6. is it worth a 9 month wait? Hmm, I waited about a month for mine and it seemed like forever.

Hello all, thanks for the replies ?

I managed to get an extended test drive and I have to say, what a car!

The dealer demo was a 3.0l non Pro in Yellow, and if I make a decision before the weekend, I can have it immediately (they are desperate to take the Lotus whilst we have good weather)

So, the main question is….. do I go for it?

Will the non Pro be undesirable in the future? Will I miss any of the features you get in the Pro?

Also, for the cars with no boot anchor points, are the threaded holes still there under the carpets? Are these something I can simply add myself?

Again, thanks for the responses, if things go well I’ll be tormenting you all A LOT after the weekend!

Cheers ?

I'm less familiar with the spec in the European market but I looked at the configurator for Toyota UK. It appears the 3.0 non-Pro is likely equivalent to the 3.0 version here in North America (the 3.0 "Premium" in NA is probably the "Pro" version). Most of the differences appear to be comfort or technology related:

No heated seats
No power adjustable seats
Basic LED headlights
No heads up display
No JBL sound system
No memory seats
Wireless apply carplay (?)
Navigation as option (?)

I personally don't think there is too much different from the Pro versus non-Pro trim. If you felt comfortable in the seats and found a good driving position then I think you should be all set. The JBL system is good but as others in the forum would point out it's not exceptional.

Whether to spring for it? Hmm, I'm going to get downvotes hard because this is a Supra owners forum but others can provide their own opinions. :)

I could be wrong but maybe you prefer lightweight and tossable cars? Compared to the Supra, the Elise is lighter and also more analog esp. with the hydraulic steering rack. The Abarth is also probably special in a "hot hatch" sort of way. The Supra (in my opinion) is fantastic both as a grand tourer and canyon carver, but you will feel the weight difference and there will be less information through the steering wheel. I don't know if you are considering the automatic or manual transmission but the ZF8HP is really quite exceptional for a CVT. Obviously there is less engagement than 3 pedals would offer, but it certainly adds to comfort especially if you anticipate traffic on your commute if you anticipate it being you daily driver. But if you would prefer a manual then of course that is a new option, albeit one you may need to wait for.

So that brings me to this idea. Have you driven the Supra 2.0? It saves about 300(or so) pounds of weight and due to it's engine position some have observed has quicker turn in. There is less immediate torque, but its still very quick. You will still feel a noticeable difference in weight but perhaps less so and will attack the back roads with vigor.

Now an alt option to consider...if your budget allows given you are an Elise owner, and not in a hurry to purchase a fun car...how about a Lotus Emira base edition, touring with the 4-cylinder AMG engine and dual clutch? You may have access to a decent dealer network in the UK and even know private shops which specialize in Lotus cars. Granted I've never driven one, but here in the US the dealer network is much more limited making Lotus a 3rd or 4th car proposition. I would suspect a base edition with sparse options may not be far off in price than a 3.0 Pro Supra.

Anyway hope this helps, I'm sure whichever direction you go will be a good one.

Get the 3.0 Premium. I have zero regrets in getting the 3.0 Premium. You get all the technology with the Premium. I drive 42 miles a day to and from work (mon-fri). I'm averaging 24 miles per gallon.
