So I get the basis of the burbles and popping sound when the car shifts or is decelerating, but once you put on an aftermarket DP and get tuned the pops and crackles can be quite loud.

My question is, can these loud, for lack of a better description, explosion of up burnt fuel, cause damage to the catted cells? Basically can it blow them appart?

Yes, pops and bangs can harm the catalytic converter. It's not going to be a dramatic lifespan reduction unless you have anti-lag or one of those ridiculous crackle tunes that sound like ripping canvas through the whole decel.

But if you're DP+tune, fuel dump and timing retard on decel can be fully turned off.
