I currently have a Afe exhaust on my 2.0

Takeda 2-1/2 IN to 3 IN 304 Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust System w/ Blue Flame Tip

I was thinking of getting a AA catted downpipe. My question is

1. Will I need to get a tune?
2. Will this throw a code since I have a exhaust already? I read online someone said if its just catted downpipe you'll be fine? But with other mods it may throw a code
3. If I do throw a code I can just swap back to OEM? Or will that code need to be cleared either way?

No, since you're running minor mods you won't need a tune, even with a hybrid turbo you wont need a tune to drive it around. You wont make anymore power but The car wont explode if that's what you're wondering. ECU's is load based so the PID logic should regulate boost via throttle position and will adjust to hit the stock torque request. A bit oversimplified since I'm leaving out ignition timing, wgdc, fuel trims ect.. but you get the idea. Unless someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm in the camp of saving the money and going catless dp. Keep the OEM and swap over when it comes time for emissions. You'll get a code but just ignore it. Grab a obd wifi dongle and check for codes instead of relying on the CEL to indicate that you have an issue. Buy the Bimmerlink app. Occasionally scan for codes to keep track of whats going on with the car. Ignore the the catalytic error codes. You also can turn off the ASD and that cringy ass burble.

1. No you don't need a tune and I wouldn't expect dramatic power gains going for lower cel catted anyways.
2. I think ActiveAutowerke won't throw a CEL but it's not worth it. I have the aFe Takeda exhaust and a catless downpipe and the car is very loud. I did the downpipe first do idk what the car sounds like with catted and the exhaust but keep in mind it will be very loud.
3. idk

I’m running a catted downpipe on my 2.0 with no tune and didn’t get a CEL, but every car reacts a bit differently. Some people are fine, others get a code eventually. Worst case, yeah—you can swap back to OEM and clear it with an OBD tool.

So, I am running the Active Autowerke high-flow cat along with the same exhaust you have. I also have the AFE cold air intake, AFE charge pip and Race Chips Black series piggy-back tune with no issues. You don't need the tune and no cell codes will come up. With the Race Chip tune, I am close to 300Hp now. I also have Black Dinan Coil packs and NGK spark plugs. They run a few degrees cooler. I think they are platinum series.
