Is it only official Toyota dealers that can update the car's service history?

And is the service history only viewable via the MyT App or the website - not in the car itself?

I'm not sure, but I think as you noted, only the dealer can update your car's history and it becomes published info to places like CarFax (USA).

I do all my maintenance at home and never return the car to the dealer unless for a major recall that I can't fix on my own or have a remedy for.. so my cars' histories are almost always BLANK. I never had an issue selling the cars (my cars are very clean and well maintained) or getting low balled on trade, etc. so I've never cared.

You know you can go into Carfax and add your own Service Records. Like if you changed the oil yourself, you can enter that info yourself..

Just tried to access that site and got this message when I put my VIN in.

Is that site just for the US? I'm in Scotland.

Carfax is only for US/CAN. Didn't realize you were in Scotland.

But it’s not permanently saved - it’s only available to you on your account and doesn’t actually go on the Carfax. So it’s pretty pointless and serves the same function as the notepad list on my phone/iCloud account…
