Based on numerous posts here, the problem is likely the oil pump, which is explicitly covered under the 60 month, 60,000 mile powertrain warranty.
Yeah they said oil pump would be covered but before they jump straight to oil pump they need the do the smaller stuff first (oil change and oil level sensor) to rule them out. Advisor said he will call my extended warranty shortly to see if level sensor is covered.

Yeah they said oil pump would be covered but before they jump straight to oil pump they need the do the smaller stuff first (oil change and oil level sensor) to rule them out. Advisor said he will call my extended warranty shortly to see if level sensor is covered.
Just got a call the oil level sensor is covered. So once that’s installed and still doesn’t fix the issue I’m sure oil pump will be ordered next

Just a little update.
Put stock cat on and removed jb4. Took vehicle into dealer for unable to measure oil complaint. Tech found high oil pressure code and verified the oil level doesn’t read. They first recommended oil change which I agreed to because it was my first time at this dealer and they didn’t have any service records. Tech said high oil pressure code not present anymore but oil measurement still failing at 18%. Recommend oil level sensor which is not covered under power train warranty and wanted to charge $1500 to replace and continue testing. Told them I have a vehicle service contract so now I’m waiting for Monday so they can call the claim in and see if it’s approved.
Dealership BS. They don't want to pay for it; it's 100% covered by warranty

Edit: I just read the rest, good to hear they're covering it. Make sure you have that in writing though, in case they pull some BS

thats BS lol. They can easily test the oil level sensor. If no issue oil pump. They're just throwing parts at it. Lucky its covered at least so no complaint there. Let them give you free parts lol

I had the EXACT same issues as you. High oil pressure code & unable to measure the oil level means the oil pump is failing as others have said.

That being said, I got my oil pump changed and replaced. No more high oil pressure, BUT the smoke on stop lights exactly like yours still occurs. I have a theory it has something to do with oil being overfilled, or the start stop system. The smoking does not happen in Sport mode for me.

Except of course the more times the dealer works on the car the more likelihood of them messing something up. Isn't there any BMW SB or Tech notice to support the high OP and inability to read qty is a failed oil pump

Dealer replaced oil level sensor, still didn’t fix issue. They say next step is the oil control valve which of course isn’t under factory powertrain but luckily I have an extended that’s covering the level sensor and hopefully the oil control valve. Really hope the next step after the control valve is just to replace the oil pump.

They’re really milking that extended warranty. Just change the damn oil pump and be done with it.

Yeah it is what it is. I just don’t want to be that guy that tells them what needs to be replaced. I’m trusting the process

Why don't you make a deal with the stupid dealer. Get them to remove the oil pump and if it's not broken then you will pay for a new updated pump which is a good idea anyway. If they find it broken then it's a Toyota warranty claim.
The more the dealer works on it the greater the risk. When something is a well known issue you can eliminate steps in the "process" and just go to the known solution.

I guess because how much F'ing around do you want in your life? Every trip to the dealer is a pita not only with regards to risk but also disruption to your daily life. We all know what it is and the risk in almost zero.

I understand what you’re saying but it just seems like an unnecessary gamble, to me at least. If they try to replace another part after the control valve I’ll get more involved

Update 4-7-25
Oil control valve didn’t fix issue of course. They said they sent all the info over to Toyota and they approved the oil pump. Of course back order no eta but so were the level sensor and control valve lol. So now oil pump is ordered and just waiting for the text to have it installed.
