Not that we need yet another thread on the DCM update, but some of the others have become rather..messy, and I wanted to have this information accessible for everyone. If it's redundant, a mod is welcome to delete the post.

First, this is not a (safety) recall, it is a Service Campaign (24TD04). Second, there's manufacturer documentation available on NHSTA's website. I tend to keep an eye on this as sometimes there's interesting information made available.

Here's the breakdown:
  • Memorandum - Not terribly interesting, a small recap of the issue.
  • Remedy Overview - Couldn't find an 'official' document name. This is a 'mid-level' walkthrough of the update process.
  • Technical Instructions - In-depth instructions for the update process via ISTA.
The last document is rather extensive and includes a procedure for if the head unit is 'bricked' during the I-level update (excerpts attached). Although dealers should be aware of this procedure, hopefully this might help owners guide them towards the resolution if needed.

Good chance the recent release contains the DCM update as the timeline matches:
ISTA 4.48.35 (S18T-24-07-530)
The bulletin was released in July so remedy would have to be available before then. I got mine done this week and -519 was applied.

Does that one come with the hesitation fix and the software suspension upgrades?

Yes, I got mine updated to 4.46.43 two months ago. Mine is 2021 Supra. I can confirm it drives slightly better and i haven't had throttle hesitation since then. The steering became a bit heavier and the JBL sound system also got an update too.

I probably have no need for DCM upgrade because my ISTA version is now newer than version 4.40.14 according to tech note.

I changed my appointment again and now am supposed to be going this Friday instead of tomorrow. Calling for possible hail and I'm not to keen on chancing hail damage on the car

My experience with this Update.

To help paint as accurate of picture as possible, I suggest noting your prior I-level. For example, you mentioned as of 2024 it is no longer possible to disable start/stop. That (reportedly - between here and BMW forums) began with 03/2023 in the US, thus implying you likely jumped from a 2021-2022 I-level.

The auto upshift in manual override mode is quite interesting. Can’t say I’ve ever done that so I don’t know when they changed the behavior (I am on 03/2022).

Fair point I was on 3/2022 IStep as well.
