I read this morning that Toyota can be back to full global production levels by December.

"Toyota has announced it will be back to full global production capacity in December. In fact, the company says it anticipates churning out 800,000 vehicles next month, up from the 760,000 it made in December of 2020."

"Nobody inside Toyota is revealing how the automaker has been able to secure enough chips to return to full production levels. However, the company has said it will do so without removing features from its vehicles, a corner many automakers have been cutting so they can make their dwindling chip supply stretch further."

I think this is good news for anyone that has been waiting to get a Supra.

Not so sure this would apply to the Supra given that the majority of parts are BMW...Also it's not manufactured in Japan either...
Oof! You're right, sometimes I forget I drive a BMW. ?

At least anyone in the market for a new corolla can be assured they get one lol

It's made by Magna Steyr in Austria (which is going into Covid Lockdown), I am guessing few parts are made directly by BMW and are mostly sourced from other sources. Hopefully they can churn them out too. But yeah not really related directly to Toyota.

Toyota stock piled on chips. They learned in the past that this was a weak point in their system.

I don't think that this is a NEW news... Toyota already depleted their stockpile and is now in the same boat as everyone... Msn is behind and/or clickbate...

Good news for me. I’m waiting on the GR86
But shouldn't the GR86 be in a similar situation considering it's basically a Subaru?

Yes it's built at a Subaru plant and most of the parts are Subaru.
Right, so it's a good chance the GR86 will be short in supply also along with the GR Supra.

Most likely, Subaru is really struggling right now with parts shortages. It just depends on how they allocate parts and if the GR86/BRZ is given priority over other vehicles. I doubt it. It seems like most car manufacturers are trying keep production of their most expensive vehicles going first.

This sucks, was actually looking forward to purchasing a GR 86 as a daily.

Call around I know my local dealer said they have some coming in between Dec-Jan and that one was not sold yet. I suspect most of them will have a markup though.
