Yea I had the CVN spoofing on my Evo 10 but I had moved out of California before it was to be inspected again. There’s another thread where someone had an unlocked DME and flashed back to stock but the numbers didn’t match up.
From what I’ve seen the non matching ECU CVNs doesn’t always get flagged for a state ref. I don’t know what the criteria they’re going off of but some people get away with it and some don’t.
When I found out this was happening a few years ago, I’ve been flashing my Evo back to stock for every STAR test and luckily my guy is chill so I haven’t had any issues with anything.
I lived in California for 35 years. Every car I owned was catless. I would just swap it with OEM cat when the inspection time came. I am glad I left before having to deal with the CVN crap. Unfortunatly I think it will come to a lot more states soon. Massachusetts is already doing it in select areas.
The last time I had to smog a car in California was pre CVN check days. I still taped over my flexfuel emblem.
