Random, but I've been curious why do the windows go down when opening the door? I've had multiple German cars. Everyone of them has had window regulator issues haha

This allows for a tighter seal when the door is closed.

It allows air to escape reducing stress on the glass and your ears.

It's pretty much standard on frameless windows or door panels.

It's because the windows are frameless. For a good seal you want the window to roll up in between rubber seals on both the inside and outside of the window. The only way for that to happen without a frame is for the window to roll down slightly when opening/closing it. If it didn't roll down, you could only have a seal on the inside of the window, not the outside, which means additional wind noise, easier to break into, etc.

It’s also so you don’t slam the glass against the roof. My 370z would sometimes glitch out and not roll down when the door was being opened or closed. It would make me cringe when I would hear the slam of the window or loud crack when opening the door.
