Short Version: I had some wheel spacers installed at a shop a few days ago while they were doing some other work. I went to re-torque the lug studs today, and one of them just spins. It won't tighten or loosen. I'm bringing it back tomorrow to have them take a look, but do you all think they managed to strip the hub?

The shop will make it right, but curiously is this a 'replace the entire hub' situation?

My guess is they forgot to use the extended lugs, accidentally used the stock ones, and stripped out the threads in the hub trying to torque it down.

No, they're the right long lugs. No locks, etc. I have the old lugs here in my hands.

you better drive it carefully... Otherwise, tow it just in case.. I'd hate to see wheels falling off...

better yet, take the wheel spacers out and use stock bolts to torque it before driving to anywhere..
I canโ€™t get the bolts off or I would :). Itโ€™s gonna get a tow. Thanks!

Correct thread pitch on the lugs? 14x1.25.

Sigh - yeah.

Shit Shop over-torqued ALL of the lug bolts, by a lot.

Got it fixed. Replaced all of the hubs. Cost them $3,800 out of pocket to fix at a better shop. The good shop had to drill out a bunch of the lug studs, replace the hubs and did a stud conversion. Shitty/bad shop wrote a check. Car was out of commission for two weeks.

What an immense pain! I'm glad you got this sorted out.

Out of curiosity, what kind of a shop put on your spacers? General mechanic or a BMW place?
