Clearly I don't have that mindset as I purchased a 2021. However, I was empathizing with the 2020 owners as there are obvious performance improvements that were made only in the second production year. Some of the 2020 owners may not care, but many of them were not happy to know that they were missing out on some extra power and suspension refinement. Some even deny there are improvements at all and that is a foolish claim. Many mechanics will warn against buying the first production year of any new model as there are always engineering and mechanical flaws that are later corrected in the following production years.
So your saying the 2020 motor, suspension, and exhaust are all flawed. And that's why they made improvements? :) lol

That's absolutely what I'm saying. They took feedback and made changes to improve the vehicle, this is typical and shouldn't be much of a surprise to anyone..

I ordered a 2021 model but I think over here in the EU it's the same thing as a 2020 US model, because we don't get the extra 40 hp. What I would be more pissed about is the fact that they make a 2.0 Supra now and that it looks 99,9% the same as a 3.0 Supra. It's like making a 220i as wide as a M2 CS, but maybe thats just me

No regrets at all, and I'm happy they're updating it so quickly for new buyers. I would say the 2021 changes are near imperceptible to your typical driver but good to see change nonetheless. Now if they come out with that targa top they've been teasing that might be a different story :p

Do you regret not waiting an entire year to buy the next year model? Is this the thread where 2021's flex their 40hp?

Apparently so. I think it's weird and that's coming from someone who has a 21 model.

I agree. That model gets a score of 5 erections from me. (On a scale of 1-5)

Wasn’t it started by a 2020 owner?

In any event, it is an odd thread, but is interesting from a human behavior standpoint. Sort of.

Yeah it looks like it was. Looks like the OP stated they still really loved their car and were just curious about others. Is just weird to brag about having a Supra that is 1 year newer. Is it he same EXACT car? No of course not. But its also not a full on generational change either. Also, who the hell knows? Us 21 owners might be in the same boat this time next year when people have their 22 models on the roads. Maybe it will change, maybe it wont. Either way I wont love my car any less.

Yes, true. Most car manufacturers do take feedback and make some positive changes and improvements to nearly every subsequent model year.

However, I don't recall anyone complaining about the lack of power, the exhaust manifold or suspension/steering characteristics and handling in the 2020 model. Besides, one model year is too short a time frame to implement significant changes. Toyota/BMW most likely had these "improvements" up their sleeve when the 2020 was launched but weren't given the go-ahead or permission.

There were (and still are) a few who complained about bump steer, but as some actual performance drivers acknowledged, it can be remedied with a proper alignment. Additionally, it seems to worsen in lowered cars with aftermarket suspension parts. Also, the 2021 suspension improvements did address some of the bump steer, but it hasn't been 100% eradicated.

Somehow, minor improvements and simple fixes that most have expressed initially have yet to be addressed - wind buffeting, exterior trunk release button, muffled subwoofer/audio sound, cell phone microwaving charging pad, etc. Fortunately, the aftermarket as well as some talented DIYers have found fixed for a lot of our gripes.

We will soon see what the 2022 model has to offer. Let's see if they're really listening.

If someone has a 2.0 I want a fat sticker all over the car saying it’s a 2.0 lol

i already 2021'd my car with the caliper stickers and stock strut braces genuine from BMW before 2021's were even announced with the braces from factory. After that, did springs, spacers, A91 wing, maxton v3 lip, downpipe and tune, i don't see why my MY20 would be considered inferior lol. I have 15k miles on the car and is only gonna go up considerably as time goes, i love this car to pieces, makes me smile in every way, shape and form. MY2020 FTW!

Whether due to "teething problems" with changes to MY21 or simple luck of the draw on the assembly line... the fact that I've put 20K completely trouble-free miles on my MY20 (and been able to actually drive it for an additional year) means no regrets whatsoever. I'll take that any day over a chance of oil consumption issues and a locked DME.

Most of the differences between the two are only going to be noticed when driven back-to-back or on a track (or at least on completely deserted roads). I can't even open it up to it's full capabilities for more than a few seconds before being stuck behind a soccer mom in a van.

If they'd done a major upgrade in the interior on the other hand (iDrive 7/8, better seats, audio, etc.) then I would have a few regrets I imagine. ;) The aftermarket can easily solve everything else - and even some of those.
