Just purchase a new to me 2020 Supra. I really don’t want to spend the extra money and hassle getting a tune through ecutek. I only plan on running downpipe, intake, and e30-e50.

Have any of you done the same thing? How are your 2020 JB4 experiences??

I'm not running JB4, but if you're looking to cut costs, you really don't need an EcuTek tune.

BM3 comes with an OTS map at $595, and MHD with OTS maps is $433. The stock intake flows just fine, and would cost just as much as a bench unlock, if you happen to need one.

Ecu tune is superior in every way. It actually has control of fueling, ignition timing, throttle mapping and 100's of other things that JB4 has no control over.

Most JB4 logs I have seen the timing curve looks like a wet noodle because the car is so pissed off. Fueling is way too lean for the added boost. Anyone that states JB4 is the same or better than a native ECU tune is living in denial.

I live in denial as the world is a shitty place. My car is basically stock with an Eventuri intake and the JB4 provides a noticeable gain. It works fine for me. If doing downpipe I would get a tune... even if a dedicated map on JB4.

Don't you only drive your Supra like 3x a year? hardly a benchmark.

I've got a tunable 2021 but went for a JB4 instead. My reasons were I wasn't going for anything higher than 450hp currently and I don't even have any access to 93 octane and there's zero E85 pumps in my entire state.

Yes, 100% going for the unlock and OTS map would've been better, but my JB4 with bluetooth and EWG were only $200 and after lots of revisions with ColonelAdam, I've got better midrange power and the butt dyno's picked up some noticeable power.

If you want to run E50, go for a proper tune. JB4 depends on stock fueling map and won't work with any higher E blend than E25-E30

In my thread, 2020s have hit around 440-450whp on E30 w/ JB4. So that's pretty much the limit.
