Dang, I was Wanting one as a commuter/ for weekends at willow springs. (I live 20 minutes away) I wouls Have made it look at close to the white and cf connect they had along side the ft-1 a few years back.

As far as I am aware, the S-FR concept was never greenlit for production. I believe they instead invested in some Gazoo stuff for the other smaller fwd cars instead.

I thought if it was sold for 14, 15k, it would be the best first car for young kids who would then upgrade to 86 anf Supra?

Probably the board not liking it, but it also may just be because they're working on the Supra first.

I haven't investigated further however.

A70TTR, this isn't a Supra question, or even a Toyota related question. But wasn't the R35 originally going to be Sykline/G35 base? Looking back at the 2001 concept it screams G35 too me.

Not to my knowledge. I do recall the cars being designed by the same guy (or heavy involvement), but the V35 platform predated the R35 concept by 2-3 years, let alone the R35 production car. I wouldnt be shocked if the early concept shown above was built on the V35 chassis however.

For reference, the gen 2 NSX concept was built on the original NSX chassis, and the FT-1 was built on a modified ZN6(86) chassis.

EDIT: sure enough, the V35 served as a testbed/prototype for the GTR

@A70TTR, Thanks for all of your previous threads. I enjoy reading your posts and finding out as much about the car as possible.

My question is regarding the rear of the car. I don't know if you would be able to answer this, but can you tell us anything regarding the spoiler of the car? Was it ever considered, is it still being considered, etc.

I believe it was considered, just as most things were, especially items present on the FT-1. My understanding is that the active spoiler was not implemented due to added weight and cost.

Fair point.. but the entire sport car idea is a nice to have and not a need to have type of thing. So.. cool stuff is what we look forward to in a car as such. ??
