Now sure how this didn't get posted yesterday, but now Ecutek is the last big player to not support the Femto unlock solution.

Does it still need to go to Russia first? Check here.

Seems like this is better than the bm3 OTS maps

SURELY this means we will see ECUTEK follow suit. Looks kinda like the competition is closing the door.

I believe it's the same for MHD and BM3 at present. FEMTO unlock = OTS tunes, no custom.

Hi guys, we thought we needed to step in to clarify some things.

1. Why "OTS" means "bad"? OTS maps are created using dyno and they are running fine for so called "stage 1-2" tuning". Not even 10% of the users are really want to launch their car "to the moon" with all those big turbos and flex fuel.

2. If you have ability to upload maps (and you can, after our unlock), then YOU CAN adjust anything you want. For ex. you can find professional tuner, who's familiar with mapping software like "Winols" and he can create FULLY CUSTOM tune for you, which can be uploaded with use of the femto obd flasher (directly), or bm3 (delivered through their cloud), or even with mgflasher or mhd (needs to be uploaded to their app).

So, what kind of "custom tune" do you want? Really can't get the idea. Please clarify, we are trying to solve this puzzle with our entire team.
1. Nothing wrong with an OTS map. They're good.

2. You have a messaging problem from your tuning friends. If you look at the post from MHD above, it specifically mentions all the steps needed for OTS tunes. It doesn't say anything about custom maps being supported. It also implies there's a limitation because they can only flash the calibration area. The post continues by saying that if you want ALL the MHD features, then you still need to do a DME clone.

2a. And that last point is the real "problem." Unless you clone the DME to an unlocked 2020 unit, you still don't have access to the advanced integration features like port injection, flex fuel, rolling anti-lag, map switching. MHD says it right in their post above, The MHD and BM3 flashes without the clone can support a custom map, but you're still locked out of major features.

Protuningfreaks said the same thing on Instagram: calibration data = YES (custom map), but advanced Custom ROM features that alter other DME functionality = NO.

And this, to me, is not full custom tuning. If the unlock allows me to upload a custom map but I'm still locked out of all the major tuning platform features that a 2020 could have, or could be unlocked with a cloned DME, then this is not the same level of custom tuning.

OTS does not compare to a true tune. It’s a step in the right direction. Who’s the guy with the steps in his signature again???

What @femtoevo is saying is that you can modify the entire calibration area with a Femto unlock. You can flash an off-the-shelf tune or a custom tune to the ECU.

You cannot change other areas of the ECU that tuners use to add some features, such as on the fly map switching. With the Femto unlock, in i's current state, you cannot anything but the calibration tables. Once the tune is set and flashed, that's the tune you have. You can of course tune and flash again to that area, but you can still only have one tune available at a time.

1. Flashing custom map using MHD:

2. We understand, that everybody wants to get all of the features available on the market, but will they really need all of them? Just take a look at euro tuners, they are fine with map tuning and beating world's records time to time.
I know you guys understand, I was speaking to the group. ;)

Thank you, femotoevo! This conversation, about the possibilities, the CLONE, the UNLOCK, send to Russia, wait, etc..... has been so limited. Having the people (femtoevo) actually clarify the situation, makes it all easier to understand. Thank you, again.
