Happy for Checo. I mean, who doesn’t like Checo? The start will be very interesting. I expect a Red Bull 1-2 with Max taking the win. They have the overall best car, notwithstanding Bahrain, so they have no reason not to have 2 cars in the top 4, if not the podium, in every race.

Mercedes is a disaster. These problems don’t look like they will be fixed anytime soon. Probably should’ve ranked them third or lower before this season started.

What a great god damn race that was!
Down to the wire for several positions.

Congrats to Max. Congrats to Ocon.

But holy hell somebody hit the off switch for a lot of cars.

Yeah lost like 4 cars on the same lap. I wonder if Alonso and Ricciardo had the same issue RBR had in Bahrain. Great racing again. These new cars are awesome.

1. Get used to this result for the rest of the season.

2. I actually don't think the new rules have helped passing enough to transition off of DRS anytime soon. It looks like the cars can follow for longer without destroying their tires, but I think we would have ~0 on-track passes after lap 1 if we got rid of DRS.

3. Carlos is going to have to step it up if he wants to avoid being shuffled into a #2 role.

4. I am not sure anymore if Haas and Alfa Romeo have made a big forward step year-over-year or the Mercedes engine is just that bad. The way Magnussen blasted past Hamilton with ease makes me think the engine has gone from second best after Honda last year to the worst on the grid. Maybe much of that was set-up, but either way, if you are on a non-Mercedes engine, if you can finish, you have a great chance of getting points in every race.

5. I kind of don't think Mercedes is "one simple trick" from making up this gigantic deficit to Ferrari and Red Bull. They need to find something like what, a second per lap just to be competitive? Harder to see that happening quickly in this cost-cap era.

1: sounds great

2: DRS was invented to promote passing so it's working as intended. Passing would still happen by drivers who know how to pass, but the re-pass like we saw the last 2 races wouldn't.

3: it's only been 2 races, he'll be fine.

4: as you saw in Brazil, Mercedes had very much the best engine. The problems are car related, not engine. Williams had the best engine last year, and was dead last while Mercedes had the same engine and won the constructors title. Mercedes just built the third best aero package, as Russell and Hamilton showed in the first 2 races. Hamilton just messed up his car before the race so he wasn't competitive in Jeddah. Russell showed what it can do under normal circumstances. In Bahrain it was reversed where if RBR had finished, Hamilton would've been 5th.

5: It's their aero. Which is a lot easier fixed than engine issues. Once they resolve their issues they'll be a lot closer. They hoped that no-pod design would give them an edge, and it failed miserably.

Anyone going to Las Vegas?
Tempting. The idea of watching the race from a room at like Bellagio is very cool.

More excited to go to Silverstone this year though.

Do you technically need an admission ticket if you book a room with a view of the race?

One possibility, as F1 announces the date, hotels might charge room /w F1 ticket for that weekend. it would be interesting to see how it fans out.
livingin Vegas, having family that works at a couple casinos, that’s exactly what will happen, that weekend the strip hotels will increase price and and rooms facing the “track” will for 10000% sure up those rates.

They close the strip down for New Years and strip view rooms are higher then other facing rooms.
