in my opinion, HKS sounds best with a catted downpipe.Could anyone comment about the HKS with catless dp? Thanks!
I just got the HKS dual muffler variant (HKS 31014-KT001) installed last week and drove about 700 miles the next day. In comfort mode it sounds stock with a very slight increase in sound when you give it the gas but not annoyingly loud and no drone at all while cruising. In sport mode it's a bit more loud and shouty but a great tone. The backfires are a lot louder but the burble and shift barks are slightly louder but not obnoxiously so. I have an AA catted downpipe as well. I'm very happy with the HKS, maintained stock civility for when needed and has a great tone and volume in sport other than the backfires which are rather loud.
are you running your Magnaflow exhaust straight pipe or with the mufflers? How do you like the sound?Do you get any drone at all in normal mode between like 1.7k-2.4k rpms with the HKS?
I have the Magnaflow Xmod and I get a good amount of drone in that area, especially under load.

I originally had it set up with the muffler on the left side and the straight pipe on the right valved side. So in sport mode, It had a nice aggressive tone to it, deep with a nice crackley rasp. But I recently changed it to having both mufflers on because I wanted more of that smooth inline 6 sound. I have yet to hear what the car sounds like from the outside, but inside its sounds pretty good.are you running your Magnaflow exhaust straight pipe or with the mufflers? How do you like the sound?
the muffler on left and straight pipe on the right is likely what I will do if I go this route, was there any drone then or with your current set up?I originally had it set up with the muffler on the left side and the straight pipe on the right valved side. If you’re driving normally straight pipe you’ll get a little drone when you’re on the gas, but with the mufflers it’s almost stock. The mufflers make a huge difference if you’re running catless with the xmod. Love how dual muffler sounds though.issues with drone at all? From your experience?
Yeah I get a bit of drone between like 1700-2200ish rpms, more so if the engine is under load. It's not awful though. It's the same regardless if I have the mufflers on or not.the muffler on left and straight pipe on the right is likely what I will do if I go this route, was there any drone then or with your current set up?
How much difference in noise did they catted AA dp make? Considering getting one.I've had my Magnaflow since around July of last year and I do like how it sounds but there is a drone but it's only at a very specific rpm at freeway cruising speeds.........I want to say around 2100 or 2200 rpm. The thing is it disappears instantly if you just speed up or slow down 100 rpms. Other than that it sounds pretty mean. I paired it with the AA catted downpipe and I have both mufflers on.
