I wanna buy the AA downpipe. My neighbors hate me, so I don't want to be noticeably louder. On cold starts do you think an untrained ear will tell that it is much louder?

My CTS catted is reasonably louder. Your other option if youā€™re going to tune the car is to tune the cold start noise reduction

The catted version which I am running, donā€™t like seeing dashboard lights (CEL) for exampleā€¦. Is louder but nothing your neighbors will come knocking at your door for. Itā€™s def louder just not obnoxious, and I am on stock exhaust.

Yeah its louder but not to the point you're pissing people off. The Stock exhaust helps keep it pretty tame.

We have them in stock if interested.

My CTS catted is reasonably louder. Your other option if youā€™re going to tune the car is to tune out the ā€œstartup roarā€ which is designed to heat the cat up as fast as possible but makes the car louder on cold starts.
The start up roar is not for cat heating. This is used ONLY when the car is warm enough to rev at startup. There is however a setting for cat warming that can be disabled which is what makes true cold starts loud.

That being said cold start with an AA catted pipe and stock exhaust is not that much louder that it would piss people off (ran this setup for a few months before my HKS came in). If you are asking about a catless pipe that might be getting close to pissing people off volume.

I had the AA catted downpipe running through stock exhaust... it was kinda hard to tell the difference from stock IMO. The cat cuts down on a lot of noise and stock system has a massive amount of sound deadening.

My bad yes there is an option for the cold start noise reduction

I have an AA Catted downpipe on the stock exhaust, and like @VA90 mentioned, it is pretty hard to tell the difference from stock at cold start. At idle, it pretty much sounds identical to stock. The only real difference I can hear is under hard acceleration and aggressive downshifting the pops and crackles are a bit louder.

AA catted DP raises noise a smidge. Normal driving itā€™s still quiet.

AA + Muffler delete w/ active exhaust kept

(I had the muffler delete before AA DP was installed.)

Mostly, it's a bit deeper and throatier, not that much louder than stock. On the 21s, it seems to allow for more pops and bangs in sport mode, kind of like the 2020 Supras.

The loudness of the pop roughly correlates with where in the rev band you are.
