I want to like the Z, the rear is really nice, side profile is not bad. But the front is terrible. I would agree, that it is a step back from the 370Z

So did I. I have a tattoo of my dad leaning on his old Datsun Fairlady, but unfortunately... it's just not there.

the Z definitely has potential imo, especially when the aftermarket rolls out some options for the front end/grill. However, I'm gonna watch it all go down from the Toyota side of the fence lmao
I'm sure aftermarket will help a lot, but replacing the whole front end is both expensive, and has all the same paint matching challenges you run into doing fenders on the Supra.

We gotta remember that GR Supra came with Z4 chassis, wheel base, etc. restrictions that caused major downgrades from FT-1 among other BMW restrictions. Yet, came out...WINNING!

I never understood why the headlight needed to extend so far to the center. but everything from the lip spoilers to the double bubble roof and side skirts additions stand out. Love the front bumper _| |_ shape. Can't say the same for err the "ok, we give up, here is your rectangle box" Z design ?

GR86 and Z were somewhat freer of such restrictions.
We just have to remember that Nissan had the bigger restriction of being broke. It's a parts bin special. They had to create a new car using mostly old parts/ chassis. So instead of major downgrades they only had minor upgrades from the 370z.

The fact that the Z is based on the Z34 platform, that was based on the Z33 platform, really ruins it for me. I didn't enjoy the driving experience of those Zeds at all.

Plus retro styling never dates well. You're always better off with something evolutionary.

That was my thing with the 350 and 370. I was a huge Nissan fanboi, i geeked so hard on the 300zx in the 90's not to mention dreamed of GTR's and had 280's plastered all over my wall. My old boss got the new Maxima every time they came out with a new one, I wanted an Altima for a family car as at the time same engine smaller lighter car. When the 350 came out i spent some time in it and was just like... idk.. it didn't feel special to me. same with the 370, I got to spend a ton of time in that car and nothing made me ever want it. I then just fell out with Nissan, stopped caring about GTR's, especially 80's and 90's versions. Like I've been in some bad ass R32's and 34's and just meh. The R35 was a beast I see the desire, but I don't now the Z's just haven't been there for me. I dont feel any "heritage" there either ........ I dont feel it with the Supra either for the z fanbois lurking here lol.

I was meaning more along the lines of the Vorsteiner M4 grill replacement/aftermarket front lips and the like as opposed to an entirely new front end.

I agree completely about the paint match, it was such a pain in the ass on my 350z to match the white that i just wrapped the entire car.

I'm not a huge fan of the new Z looks wise, but the proto concept Nissan showed off with the different bumper looks way better than the one that's actually coming out.

That looks amazing! that front bumper immediately made it feel like a modernized 240/270Z. Would be nice if the aftermarket space makes something like it

That's a huge improvement over the actual design. They really should have gone with that front end.

I dont know about you guys but I'm just happy to have a Supra to drive around. Those Z guys still don't know when the car will be released or what the price is going to be. Their one biggest gripe was no manual and guess what? It will be here before the Z.....
Honestly I don't know why everyone is so funny about a manual. I've owned a 98 tt 6 speed it was cool not worth over 100k in today's market in my opinion. Half the time now days auto is faster for example our c7 z06. The auto is a 10.95 stock the manual is 11.2 nostalgia or whatever is cool until an auto comes bye you just saying.
