Beyond the supply - demand lecture- its also the dealers screwing their base customers and the makers inability or desire to control pricing of what they build. Add idiotic press hype about manuals and you get Tulip Bulb idiocy over a mass produced car. This is entertaining to see auto narcissists compete for something as if it’s a Bugatti lol.
I don’t sense hate at all. I sense disappointment in one who can pay the listed price. Again the core customer that appears to not matter currently, and suffers the idiocy of the Corporate press releases who say that they do matter.
Over paying is not a way to stay financially sound either. Smart money never does. It’s not hate but laughter at the idiots who do lol! As if this one manual car is so world changing LOL. Thanks for Econ 101 Basics refresh LOL - Feel better???
I smell broke..

To be fair, Toyota is not unique on this. There’s plenty of other cars that command a DAM. Some examples that immediately come to mind:
Honda Civic Type R
Ford Bronco
Ford F-150 Lightning
Ford Mustang Shelby GT350/GT500
Porsche 911 GT2/GT3
Porsche Cayman GT4
Cadillac CT6-V Blackwing
Some other high demand vehicles may sell at near MSRP only to get flipped immediately on an auction site for profit. If you want a manual Supra, you can wait …and hope. If you want one sooner rather than later, better be prepared to pony up…

CU Later Grey / Allocation confirmed / Built date 8/29 confirmed/Vessel date to be announced.

Expected delivery: Late September to early October if all goes as Scheduled.
Location: Maryland.
I have a deposit on an A-91 CU later gray in Maryland. They initially told me end of September but when i called a couple days ago they sent me a screen shot showing it was done being built 8/29 and is at port but isn’t scheduled to ship until 11/15. Dealer said its not normal for them to sit for so long. Wondering if yours is coming on the same vessel. Was hoping to get mine by end of September.
Is there any Supra meets in the DC metro area?

Yea. I thought about going with the A91 but once they told me about the $7500 I declined. I will say, Toyota in Arlington called me and told me they are willing to sell me the A91 for $30k above Msrp. I laughed and hung up….so the $7500 didn’t seem so bad anymore. I just don’t think it comes with enough of a difference to me to justify the price and the mark up.
Lol I put a deposit on that exact one at Jim Coleman. I took the 7500 mark up smh. Waiting for it to come now but its been delayed til December now

For the people getting the A91, how much is your deposit?
A dealership does indeed have an A91 coming but they want a 10k deposit... Sounds more like a down payment to me... I'm a little skeptical about the big deposit.
I had to put 2,000 down. It does go towards the payment. My dealer is charging 7.5k markup for A-91

Which dealer? I'm hoping I can snag a CU Later MT in the Philly area too.
I got a call from a dealer in Pennsylvania with one for sale i believe it was in Scranton but not sure. I already had a deposit on one in Maryland but this was just a week ago so they may still have it

A buddy of mine went to buy a Kia Forte. Just wanted something cheap he could leave at his cabin. MSRP was 22k. Last one on the lot and they added a 10k "market adjustment". He told them to keep it.

The thing is cars you listed here are at a unique trim level for real, CTR vs a normal Civic, Cayman vs Cayman GT4 these are entirely different cars except sharing part of the name and the overall design. However the perceived uniqueness of an A91 is purely a market move, especially given that they basically release a "limited" A91 every year.

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, other than the 500 production number, it's basically an appearance package. I'm personally captivated by the CU Later + Hazelnut interior and am fine going 5k over, but it blow my mind that I know guys paying 20k-30k over for one of these lol. It just allows dealers to go crazy when coming up with these markups since there are people who are willing to pay the price. (I even question myself going over MSRP sometimes haha)

I am pretty sure you put a deposit down for the A-91 MT I was initially offered back in last week of May and I declined with the laugh. So took almost three months for someone to take a bite on $7500 slice of Markup. If you look up on my previous posts, you will see my relationship with Jim Coleman, dates back to 2022 A91-CF.
My word of advice for you, be sure to document everything, your prefer communication should be text or email and save everything. Check with your sales person routinely to make sure there won't be no additional "Market Adjustment" in December.
Don't fall for "Switch and Bait" when December comes.

Our cars are built on the same date, its going to be on the same vessel. Its being held at the port in Austria for QC.
Expected arrival at the NY port is the first week of December.
Expected arrival at the dealer is the last week of December - Mid January
Expected "Switch and Bait" by the dealer is now until the car arrives.

Good luck to you and congrats!
