Hey @Mike Myers, care to help with a little translation? What I got was, "GT86 was the first experience we had in the sports car segment, and that was fine for the first go, but this is much more than that. Pure sports car, good handling." And then the GR gentleman said it'll be hitting dealers in Germany by summer 2019. I didn't catch much more than that.

Btw, you see that gentleman, Masayuki Kai? Remember the story of the one Toyota team member that was chosen for his ability to understand German, both the language and culture? Yeah, that's the guy, iirc.

Also, this one:

Same guy, and the interview overlaps a little, but there is a little more of the GR boss.

Here's the Google Translate:

Video Transcript Translation said:
Yes it actually plays a pretty important role because we actually started, new to Europe as well, with our motorsport activities. We are in the WRC rally, very important for the sale of the Yaris. Then of course we also have excellent results in Le Mans. For many years, finally tried number one. And we can immediately link these motorsport activities to the car market. For this we use the Toyota Gazoo Racing procedure. This is our new brand for sports car activities and the Supra is of course the flagship for this new activity. In Europe and the world. So the still stealthy Supra makes his first laps on the track of the festival. It's a really pure sports car. It's quite different from the GT 86 where we had to pay more attention to economic procedures and still have a vehicle that really gives driving pleasure. But this vehicle is of course something else. It is very extreme in driving conditions. We really tried to get the best out of it. Which of course is the claim, because we want to bring the past of the Supra back on the market. Construction is in cooperation with BMW. Under the hood is a 6-cylinder in-line engine and that's of course historically important, because the Supra was always present with a series 6-cylinder. In terms of performance, the Supra should offer more than 450 hp. The production starts early next year and you can expect the car in the summer, at the dealers in Germany.

If this guy is an engineer at Toyota Motorsport GmbH which is located in Germany, couldn't that be where the CGI engine for the Supra is being developed? Someone in another post said something like "why can't they just ship the parts to Germany from Japan?" Maybe they don't have to because the parts are already there?

The downside of 450 hp on the base version for North America: the price will be up there with a base Corvette, or at best a fully loaded Mustang GT. I'm hoping for 350 hp for $10k less.

GR boss saying it shojld have 450 hp?

Oh my goodness
I think the translation (which is pulled from a full transcript of the video), has the narrator of the video claiming the 450hp, not the GR boss. So he may have just been guessing.

I should also note: I have no idea who Alain Dujardin is or what his position at GR is. I wrote "boss", but didn't mean it as the head of GR or anything like that, just the guy who happened to be representing GR at Goodwood. Could have been a PR guy for all I know.

That's around M3/M4 power levels, and with a 1400kg target weight, that'd be nice.

watched video. German dude doesn't say 450hp, only the interviewer

If I were to guess, the video creator just put in the first power figure he saw on the interwebs when none of the Toyota/GR people would give him a number. I wouldn't put too much stock in it.

You do realize that bmw would never allow this to happen right? And it’s 1,500kg, I love how people started reducing the weight. The power of the mind is a beautiful thing.
